Orlando Belo

Crucified

Skin punctured by a crown of thorns,
but the pain was for feeling all forlorn.
Blood dripping over his sweating brow,
God only knows what will happen now.

Nails hammered through his wrists and feet,
an agonising way for the Lord to greet.
A man given punishment for all men to see
today a man was crucified on Calvary.

With greater stress now coming to bear
he hung in pain and suffered there.
Uttering to his Father, Lord, why me?
And there he died for humanity.

Dear Lord, it's been a while

Dear Lord, it's been a while
since you’ve come to mind,
and I apologise for leaving
you so far behind.

The busy pathways of life
which everyday I tread
has caused me to walk
much too far ahead.

It’s not that I’ve forgotten you,
I’ve just taken you for granted.
So now I’ve stopped to look for you
and my prayers have been answered.

As we walk along together again
your have reignited my fading light,
and given me back my purpose
to share with you my life.

Spiritual Pull

I've noticed how you use your spirit
when pretty girls pass by.
You pretend not to notice them,
leaving your spirit to give the eye.

They can't help but to engage conversation,
you're like an angler with a baited hook.
I don't know how you trained your spirit,
but you should write 'A Guide To Your Spirit' book.

All types of people enjoy talking with you,
I can see the sparkle in their eyes,
and you respond in such an unassuming way,
I wish my spirit could magnetise.

So Deep is The Hurt

The emotions you stirred by your actions and words
have caused turmoil in my heart.
The situation you've created was not anticipated
and I'm stunned by your discard.

Now I've been left, feeling deserted and bereft
on an island of emptiness
whilst you float on air, in heaven knows where
full of joy and happiness.

But the most annoying thing is my suffering
and the fact that I still love you,
and you no longer miss the touch of my kiss,
and there's nothing I can say or do.

A Highway To Nowhere

There are coloured wavy lines
in that space I call my mind.
They look like swimming snakes
searching for something to find.

They are going in one direction,
fluorescent and shining bright,
but like goldfish in a bowl
no destination is in sight.

Perhaps they are an indication,
of what is yet to come.
A direction of which to take
in a darkness without sun.

An escape from the gloom,
from the bleak, and despair,
or maybe it’s simply showing
life’s a highway to nowhere.

A Vision of Distraction

Like a thought that comes from nowhere,
like a memory that comes to mind.
You fill my head with your presence
no matter where, or the time.

You come to me from a world of perfection
of blue skies, meadows, and trees.
Moving as a kissing breeze amongst the flowers
then with your eyes and smile, you tease.

I’m happily lost in your vision of distraction,
content to be taken from where I should be.
I’ve become a lovesick romantic dreamer,
obsessed by love and it’s imagery.

The Flea

Under a magnifying glass I observed an extraordinary flea,
it was dressed as a lumberjack, chopping down a tree.
It got into a rhythm and many trees were felled with its axe,
at dusk it’s day was over, and made it’s way down the track.

I followed it through the forest with my magnifying glass,
it came to a cottage, got out the mower and cut the grass.
When it had finished it went inside and turned on the light,
at ten the light went out and someone said, “Goodnight.”

Love’s Serenade

I’ve just got to know her better
and there’s one thing I can do.
I’ll sing beneath her window
of my love, so real and true.

She may not know me well,
but I’ll soon put that to right
when I’m beneath her window
with the moon shining bright.

With my guitar, heart and voice,
and a fresh rose of red,
I’ll be beneath her window
to serenade her from her bed.

When she hears me singing
she’ll beam down a smile
and blow me a kiss to prove
its been worthwhile.

A Rainbow Chaser

You used to be a rainbow chaser
who followed them everywhere.
You expected to find your pot of gold,
but found only disappointment there.

You then had plans for something wonderful,
but I knew them as castles in the air.
For a while your enthusiasm was truly amazing,
but you found only disappointment there.

You then began to have dreams with meaning,
they were the future as seen by your mind.
These too soon brought disappointment,
but still you search for a life changing sign.

The Summer Rain

It rained whilst we were dancing
and our clothes became wet through.
Your blouse clung to your body
and I got closer to you.

We kissed and danced as it poured
and our body heat rose in the air.
The music was soft and romantic
and our hands were everywhere.

Our clothes fell onto the balcony
in the warm August rain,
but still we kept on dancing
as our passions remained.

Flashes of lightening and thunder
brought a chill to the air,
so we danced into the bedroom
and continued in there.
