Your Poetry

You ask me what I like
About your Poetry?

Everything about it
Is so Beautiful,
So Wonderful,
So Ethereal ~
As the Lover’s
Fantasy…

The way you dedicate
Your poems to me
In your dreams and
Reveries of
Fantasising me…

I feel Beautiful,
Wonderful and
Ethereal ~
Just the way you

Smell

Come, snuggle, smell
The nooks, crannies
Corners – the pits
In my arms.

You’ll sniff the whiff
Of the Fragrant
Shower gel that I use
And the Talcum that
Keeps the ‘feel’ of my
Skin, soft and smooth.

But, my darling,
If you be late
In coming to me
Let me not hesitate
In telling you of that
‘bonus’ that you might
Get - of smelling me
In my erotic sweat.

Death

Nothing Changes For Us,
When Someone Else Dies.
Throughout the World,
At this Point of Time -
A Bereaved One Cries...

---------

Reflecting the Reality that there may be scores of Deaths taking place at a given point of time around the Globe, but it hardly affects our diurnal routine, except shattering the lives of their near 'n' dear ones who they leave behind.

The Sun, the Moon, the stars and the sky - they all remain the same for us, rising and setting everyday, and our life goes on as usual with our school, office and home routines, except for those bereaved persons mourning the loss of their loved ones - their life catapults them to an entirely new dimension of existence.

Hard to Live on - yet struggling to survive...for the sake of their progeny and dependents.

The Mirror

There I sighted the lonesome lass
a look of despair on her lifeless face
tears brimming in her gloomy eyes
her dark unkempt hair – a shade of sorrow
may be I had seen her somewhere before
as she looked at me with a knowing gaze

There was a deafening silence between us
I tried to speak but the words had frozen out
So I kept on staring at her –
- and She at Me

Her lamenting eyes seemed to whisper:
“ my bruised heart has been aching so long,
it cannot bear the pain any more…
it seeks solace, it seeks relief,
it’s withering away of endless grief! ”

I knew not how to console her
feeling just as helpless as she was

Painful Poetry

I've been
Seeing him
For so many
Years now…

Only painful
Poetry
Comes out of him

All his poems
Drip with immense
Agony…

Not a single
Poesy of glee

I feel so pained
On reading his
Poetry…

Loss

So, what do you
Expect?
Now that he's died
I write another
Poetry on him
As I've done
On all others
Like him…

Do you think
Another poetry
Would suffice
In expressing
The grief
I've been
Feeling…
In grieving him?

Let it be silent
Let it be sombre

I Told Myself

I told myself
You do love me
Is it really true?
She asked me

I told myself
You care for me
Are you really sure?
She asked me

I told myself
You do miss me
As often as you?
She asked me

I told myself
You need me too
Are you guessing?
She asked me

Suchitra Mitra

Just as a poet doesn’t have to write
Many poems to win your heart.
One good poem is wholesome
Enough to stir your heart’s strings.
Similarly, a singer doesn’t have to
Sing scores of songs to touch you
Deep down.
Just one heart-felt song is good enough
To etch your memories…for a lifetime.
I heard her, when I was barely in my teens,
I remembered her all through these years…
Today, when she died, I felt as if a part of me
Has gone forever, with her.
That one song, she sang, she sang it so beautifully,
None else could have crooned it so gracefully….
The song was Krishnokoli.
The singer is Suchitra Mitra.
Now she’s no more, yet I remember her,
Thank her, feel grateful to her, for that
One song she sang so wonderfully….

And So I'm Writing...

I'm hard-pressed for time,
yet I do have the heart
And so I'm writing
Know not what to pen down,
have a paper to write on
And so I'm writing

May be I'll write about 'you and me'
Or may be of 'us and them'
Feel like playing with words
And so I'm writing

May be that starving beggar's hungry looks
Or that homeless Child's beckoning eyes
Are making me scribble these lines to you
And so I'm writing

May be you'll find my words vague
Or you might decipher a meaning
Intend to leave you in the oblivion

Contrast

Don't know…
Where to look

The beautiful
Trees…
Covered with
Fruits, flowers
And leaves…
Fully clothed.

Or the men and
Women…
Strutting out
Their stuff
In blobs of
Flesh…
Sparsely attired,
Semi-naked.

I would prefer
