Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Now to those who think they are smart
Better do some medical reading
And take seriously these words at heart
Because you don't know your brains are short circuiting.
Uncontrolled stress gets to the speech nerves
Agitation and daily mounting stress
Can be manifested by profane cursing words
That when untreated may make you brainless.
It's a sign of Oppositional Defiant Disorder
And needs some resolve in Psychiatry
And may worsen in years for the speakers
The agitation may not be limited to profanity.
The inward turmoil may express in action
And the cursing may not be just verbal attack
The illness of cursing is a mental condition
That needs to be cured and its growth held back.

Pepper
She came into our cozy house
One warm and sunny day
Could have been lost, chasing mouse
Into our lot she strayed.
She was the kind of kitty
Perhaps just in her teens,
Was mild and rather friendly,
Was playful and so keen.
She had her feline manners,
Would wait till she was fed;
Would snug and rub her kitty fur
Would keep her place in bed.
Her name was Pepper, that's her coat
In colors mixed with orange.
White thick fur that lined her throat,
Her eyes, quite sharp in range.

Weighed But Found Lacking
Like a fly nestled on the cow's back
Deceived that it's taller than its real size
Arrogance cannot see what it really lacks
And cannot perceive the plank from its eyes.
Proud to declare superiority
And quick to pronounce sweeping judgements,
Arrogance needs little remedy
In making its rules laid in sentiments.
With sight shaded by a controlling Self
All others dim from importance.
Like a book occupying a whole shelf -
All written work pale in its Dominance.
But 'the humble will be exalted,
And as 'pride goes before destruction'
The lowly writers may soon be read -
While the arrogant led to oblivion.

Three Words: 'I Love You
Three words that carry so much meaning
'I love you' - is such a profound expression
Of the total surrender to Love's conquering
And a lasting commitment of sweet affection.
'I love you' is such a faithful declaration
Three simple words with a binding promise
To give the best with unselfish devotion
To one who is loved and desired to please.
When uttered in deepest sincerity
'I love you' can cross the highest mountains
It can sail the distance of many seas
And the very existence of Time be in vain.
Three words that may sometimes gravely cost
Even the lives of star-crossed lovers
Like Romeo and Juliet whose lives were lost
In their 'I love you' sighed in death forever.

Repercussions of War
Deep reflections now assess
Blunders from those world decisions
Of costly wars and human losses,
'Regime change' through devastation.
Who answers now for those lives shattered?
Who weeps with children parentless?
Disabled soldiers, do they really matter?
Can multipled Pain ever be addressed?
Repercussions still go on, vibrate
For War has ways of tattooing the mark
On human souls and families, in fate
Question those who leave them in the dark.
Was it really for defense of country?
Of honor, patriotism and of courage?
Or some vague erroneous foreign policy
A truth so hidden in sad history's pages.

Shaken Faith
Earth shaking reveals the crust
Of frailties and all human claws
Self-preservation quite disgusts
And gods of flimsy faith have flaws.
Gnawing on each other to survive
Losing all of dignity and worth
Now like mindless beasts alive
In frantic spree does Greed go forth.
In danger all their false religion fails
And man so gropes for some power to hold
Hope set on their idols now assail
They are not gods and cannot save as told.
Truth unmasks the shallowness of church
Those that veil in counterfeited ways
When earth shall crumble and the seas shall surge
The Word of God shall reign supreme always.

Who Gets The Money?
I seem to be born with an inner radar
Strangely sharp against dishonesty
When things don't seem to be what they are
The mental nose smells something fishy.
This tragic video 'bout a black boy running
For his very life as the story would say
Was meant to arouse sympathetic feelings
For generous donations to come their way.
While the cause may be valid, assuming -
I have my doubts as to where it was shot
The 'boy' portrayed seems English speaking
From that far away place, he may be not.
Mushroom foundations come up here and there
They will pull at your frail heartstrings
But verify the Truth and always beware
Some get the money but the victims keep dying.

Goodbye Comics, Hello Books
My Superman series had Bizzarro in it
Spiderman originals, Archie and Friends
It was an addiction, I must admit
But hours of reading fun, they did commend.
My brother and I loved reading those comics
We laughed at hilarious Baby Huey
Spent hours on Batman and Robin
Green Lantern's hero stories.
But Daddy did not approve of it and so
He took all the comic books away
Made me read poems and novels to know
Biographies, and so many essays.
Took trips to 'A Tale of Two Cities'
Had fun with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
'Young Women' to 'Pride and Prejudice'
My readings burnt the midnight oil.

Worthy
Worthy
No greater Love was ever shown
No wider Mercy was ever given
Than that through Jesus became known
And by Him, Grace had flowed to Man.
Worthy indeed is the Lamb of God
Boundless praise to Him is due
Worship in hearts and in spirits glad
Eternal God, His Word is true!
Worthy of our love and adoration
His promises sustain the weakened soul
His Power holds in our earthly affliction
His loving forgiveness will make us whole!
Worthy to dwell in us for eternity
He is the King of kings, LORD of lords
As He purifies us to make us holy

Not Perfect
Allow your fellow poets freedom
With grace, appreciate their words
Whatever they give it will become
A blessing, a touch, that poems accord.
Each one has limitations, but have a voice.
Listen, even to them that are new
Looking for the Good is always a choice
Do not restrict what does not agree with you.
Above all else, never have Conceit and think
You are above the rest and now excel
We are all learning and our efforts link
To Poetry, as we read - we learn well.
For life is a never- ending school
And those who succeed are those who are able
To look beyond the flaws and to use his tools
While all the while remaining very teachable!
