A Spinster At Mass
She came in dressed
in the robe of a mayoress
Her hair, curly and golden
Like that of a Roman goddess
She looked round
Her eyes, large and round
Like that of a fancy bulb.
With them she me espied
In a corner under a deck

I Don't Get it Yet
Come, come, listen,
And you'll hear, you'll see
Why we live, why we exist
There're three reasons
Man call it philosophy.
But to me it's beyond
human understamding;
Ask the agnotics
They know what I mean,
God, religion, love
Make up our world,
If there's no love
War would cut us asunder,
If there's no God,

Creep, creep, creep;
The illness comes,
Taking you on a
journey that is long.
On that bed you sit,

It is now time I sing praises
I sing not for long lost love
And her warm cold embraces

But I think of you with love

Oh! you dead ones who never
Knew when their death came
And death, you who never say of
your coming,
Why did you lay your cold hands
On his soul
His soul that barely lived a decade
I know a life that have lived
A century
Why did you not travel that road
Why did you steal his soul?

When his services were needed,

The agony of chains
Around my wrist in which
I am bound to Africa land
Of my mother
I can't run away like my comrades.
In Africa, I am bound by chains
Of yesterdays
By chains of slavery
Slavery of my brothers.
