My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts

Life seemed to come
To a still
Everything around me
Is like death
It is difficult moving
And going back is Impossible
These are my days in the bush
Of ghosts
Why do we have
To live in fear
When death is
Inevitable
The fear for failure
Took away my
Pride and I must
Do anything to
Achieve height
Many a time I dream
And find myself in
The bush of ghosts

A Spinster At Mass

She came in dressed
in the robe of a mayoress
Her hair, curly and golden
Like that of a Roman goddess
She looked round
Her eyes, large and round
Like that of a fancy bulb.
With them she me espied
In a corner under a deck
of this unnamed Church.
Behold, here's a Pandora
at mass,
As she passed;
Not even the parson
could bypass,
He stood there like a dead
wood and stared and stared
Till his eye balls fell
from its sockets
We stared and stared

I Don't Get it Yet

Come, come, listen,
And you'll hear, you'll see
Why we live, why we exist
There're three reasons
Man call it philosophy.
But to me it's beyond
human understamding;
Ask the agnotics
They know what I mean,
God, religion, love
Make up our world,
If there's no love
War would cut us asunder,
If there's no God,
There would be no world.
Religion is our belief in God,
How we interact,
With one another
And with God, our maker.
But there's something still,

Illness

Creep, creep, creep;
The illness comes,
Taking you on a
journey that is long.
On that bed you sit,
you cry, you sit
Lamenting all the
while: God I am sick!
But death do not heed
He sits, lurking by
your bed;
Waiting impatiently
Till you dropp your
tired head.
O' death! you sigh,
you cry:
Go the other way
I am not ready to go today
Christ, dear Christ
Please come to my aid!

Nemesis

Nemesis, you that can
Never be avoided
And you whose fear
Has kept me far away
From evil and social vices
I say to you this day,
Lead me to wealth
As you have lead me
From my chances.
With my all and my
Everything
I have toiled to get
To the top
But I keep slipping
Down to where I started
So I say to you,
Show me the way to wealth
Bless me beyond measures
So I can say proudly to the
World tomorrow;

Her Lips Like Sugar

Sandra;
Her lips are like sugar
Kissed her once upon
a time in summer,
So sweet, just like
unfermented butter.
O' Sandra!
I think our love is
getting better,
She said:
Benjamin, can
you please press
it harder?
I did;
And i begin to
drowse even
deeper.
But now it seems
the dream is over.
Now i think

Praises

It is now time I sing praises
I sing not for long lost love
And her warm cold embraces
Neither do I sing for days that
are sad
But I think of you with love
That are now far from my heart.

Have I been a renegade to love?
Said I wouldn't anymore fall in love
But yet amour, and yet more amour
I would stoop and fall in love.
Lord pleas make right my song

This song I sing is not for love
That are lost.
But this song of mine is wrong.

Please do not sing it to your lover
For they would cry, and leave you

Dead Ones

Oh! you dead ones who never
Knew when their death came
And death, you who never say of
your coming,
Why did you lay your cold hands
On his soul
His soul that barely lived a decade
I know a life that have lived
A century
Why did you not travel that road
Why did you steal his soul?
At the prime of his youth,
When his services were needed,
You stole him away,
From his loved ones.
And now he is gone, gone forever
Gone to where no one knows.
But I kno my dear friend,
You are resting in our heavenly
Father's home.

Chains of Slavery

The agony of chains
Around my wrist in which
I am bound to Africa land
Of my mother
I can't run away like my comrades.

In Africa, I am bound by chains
Of yesterdays
By chains of slavery
Slavery of my brothers.

Listen, do u hear now Africans?
The voice of Africa, your mother
Calling from lost journeys.
Journeys of self imposed exiles
Exile from brothers.

It is I, your brother, calling from Africa
Yor mother needs you to protect her
Africa needs you to build it's threshold

For Jami

My dear Jami
When I thought
I had began to love you
More than I had loved
Any other girlfriend
White or black
Before you,
I decided it was time you left
For I knew I was about to enter
The most difficult period of my life
And I wanted to suffer alone.
.
But then, I would've liked
You to wait for me
While I consulted
With the keepers of solitude -
The oracle of the poets;
And you wept,
And I wept when you weren't looking;
We loved each other so,
