Colour Of The Sun
Daffodils golden yellow in their hue,
Shining, dazzling across the grassy rise.
Seeming to find a way to hypnotize,
Presenting such a show, each spring anew.
Erupting through the soil with one accord,
Gathered all together, a carpet spread.
One on which many wouldn’t dare to tread,
And for their strong resilience, applaud.
The colour of the sun, they gleam so bright,
Glowing as each one sends forth its flower.
A sight that I could view, hour after hour,
And savour all I see with sheer delight.

Globe Of Parachutes
Dandelion seeds float upwards on the wind,
Climbing high and cruising lazily on.
Downy tufts of canopies so fine,
Each one gliding out of sight, and gone.
A cycle repeated every year the same,
Colonizing the ground with fresh new plants,
As we with a puff of breath, disturb the globe
Of parachutes, and so assist their dance.
Bright vibrant blooms in banks and meadows found.
Yellow spheres, illuminate eye and mind.
Such optimists who bravely shine their gold,
Across out land, a feast for all to find.

The Realms Of Heaven
Deep within the realms of Heaven,
Dwells the one and only King,
Father, Jesus, Lord, Creator,
Ruler over everything.
Healer of the wounded spirit,
Mender of the hurting soul,
Comforter to all who suffer,
Making all these 'beings' whole.
Call Him when you need a listener,
He's someone who'll hear your cry,
Pray to Him for guidance always,
He will constantly reply.
Be at one with God your Saviour,
Hand in hand your whole life through,
And with all his Grace and Favour,
He will always welcome you.

Motion Of An Ocean
Broad sweep of branches, how they dip and swirl.
Contrasting trees, in unison they whirl.
Waves passing through these naked stalwart boughs,
The gale with all its wiles, fair sighs and soughs.
Turbulent sea, the air plying its trade.
Invisible source, always on parade.
Invading, rushing, over and between,
Driving itself, no one can intervene.
It’s just amazing this impressive sight,
Like motion of an ocean, air in flight.
Zephyrs moving fast, buffeting free,
An action viewed with awe, fait accompli.

A Simple Leaf
A sculpture so beautifully designed,
Becomes a pleasure to the mind,
In colours of yellow, red and brown,
Wearing a true autumnal gown.
It had fluttered down, fully complete,
And landed gently, at my feet,
I picked it up, and then did view,
A passenger, a spider who,
Had settled there, a place to choose,
And awakening from his lengthy snooze,
Quickly skuttled off, making his escape,
Leaving me with just, the perfect shape
Of a simple leaf, with its own story,
Resting in my hand, in all its glory.

I'll Brave The Day
I’m on my own,
alone.
But I mustn’t let it get me down,
I mustn’t frown.
A smile is the order of the day,
I should obey.
It’s hard though, one often feels low.
What can I do,
it’s so easy to feel blue,
when there’s no one to lend an ear,
no one to hear.
The tears can come, it matters little now,
and I’ll manage somehow,
to move along.
I’ll try to stay strong,
now I’m on my own,
alone.
I try not to think,
or my heart would sink.
So I’ll brave the day,

All Mighty
The love of God is in my smile,
In the sparkling of my eyes.
In my laughter and my sighs.
The love of God stays all the while.
The love of God is in my heart,
In the trembling from my fears.
In my joys and in my tears.
The love of God will ne’er depart.
The love of God is in my soul,
In the passing of my days.
In my thoughts and in my ways,
The love of God, it makes me whole.
The love of God, it lives with me,
In the spirit, so it dwells.
In my hellos and my farewells.
The love of God is all mighty.

This Pleasing Sight
The wild primrose, all its day,
Displays a sweet, sweet face,
This charmer when in full array,
Has such dignity and grace.
Seen beneath the shady hedge,
This gentle flower beams bright,
And with its friend the grassy sedge,
Reaches up to the sunshine's light.
So delicate in its loveliness,
It thrives on banks in spring,
How can this pleasing sight possess,
Such beauty so outstanding.
The wild primrose, all its day,
Shines out so fair and fine,
And as I glimpse it, on my way,
The pleasure is all mine.

Mirror
Poem by my Great Niece - Kitty Cotton aged 12 years.
I was on the beach the other day,
and I found a mirror.
Not a scratch, did it have.
Not a reflection, was to be seen.
But a picture covered the glass,
a picture of the sea, blue and bare.
What to do with this magical mirror, I thought,
Give it back to the sea?
A gift for a Mother of mine?
Or a ‘Something’ for me?
I will give it back to the sea,
To sit amongst the dancing waters,
this moment will stay with me.
