I Bore You Up On Eagles Wings

I bore you up on eagles wings
And took you to my heart
When troubles are all the enemy brings
Know that we shall never part

I did not deliver you from affliction
Just to watch you drown
All of life is under my jurisdiction
And my presence is all around

Open up your eyes and see
Your God who dwells on high
I am the One who set you free
And My glory fills the earth and sky

Stand fast my child and do not falter
This fire shall not consume
You must pass through the brazen altar
Before your journey can resume

Psalm 150

Praise the Lord of the morning
When the sun rises from its sleep
Praise the Lord for His excellent greatness
For His beauty makes me weep

Praise the Lord when the darkness falls
And the moon rises high above
Praise the Lord for His majestic glory
And His everlasting love

Praise the Lord in the winter
When the snow falls on the ground
Praise the Lord for His glorious presence
When we stand upon holy ground

Praise the Lord of the summer
When the days are warm and long
Praise the Lord for His magnificent splendor
And the saints shall sing a new song

Shadows In The Darkland

Into the shadows of the dark land
Where the roaring lion roams free
Never to return to the world of innocence
This cynical dimension has forever trapped me

For years I wandered in the twilight
Voices of the world echo unclear
This is a place of abandoned desolation
Forever ruled by shame and fear

How is it that these world's co-exist in time
A child in one, a slave to the other
Surviving daily in a colorless jungle
Yet sentenced forever to continually suffer

A childless child in a demanding world
Longing to return to a different time
To a place of warmth and sweet embrace
Oh to laugh again, how sublime

From The Darkness Of The Pit

My heart is shredded, it lies in pieces
Think, I must think
Here comes the hammer, it cannot miss
The blow, and now I shrink

The shrinking ends, I am no more
One chance to survive, I take it
And now I am no more
Only one choice, I thought, and I took it
And walked on through the door

The blows are coming now
But I feel a little less
Surely my heart grows stronger
Ah, but no caress

I now reside in this world of mine
And the blows keep raining down
Stronger, even stronger now
No more thinking, the sun has gone down

The Good Ship Capitilism

The cry's of the poor rise up from the sea of oppression
And still the waves grow higher
The ship sails relentlessly on into the golden horizon
And now the sea is on fire

Wont you turn the ship around they cry
And the sharks draw near
This ship's to big to turn around
And the golden horizon would surely disappear

Ah, how great its been since we threw those
people overboard
So much more for you and I, and yours and mine
So much more for us to hoard

It was all ours anyway, those people
did nothing for what they had
Oh look, the sharks are starting to devour
Ah well thats just to bad

Lost Tears (an ode to children of alcoholics)

LOST TEARS

To all the boys who never cried
My heart it weeps for you
Longing for a fathers touch
Slipping slowly out of view

A hand it reached within my chest
And entwined around my heart
With every beat the fingers grew
Until they covered every part

And keys would fumble in the door
What would this dark night bring
And in from the night the tyrant came
The beggars received their king

To bow and scrape, perhaps defuse
To laugh at every joke
Perhaps the tyrant king would sleep

The Book Of Life Was Opened

The Book of Life was opened
And a name was written down
All of heaven stood and gazed
Not a movement, not a sound

The angels watched in silence
As the story did unfold
And from the pages of the book
The story it was told

And life sprung up from off the page
These words became a man
The angels gasped to see such work
To see God's mighty plan

A soul was fashioned in His hand
And how, no one could tell
It was marvelous and wonderful
And this my soul knows well

Psalm 78

I will utter dark sayings of old
Listen to me tell the story
Of the Lord and all HIs works
Of our God and all His glory

Tell this story to your children
Let them know right from the start
To set their hope upon the Lord
To usher Him into their heart

Long ago and times gone past
God's people lay under the heel
Of a cruel and Godless people
Who whipped them till they could not feel

And they cried out to God in affliction
God came down and He set them free
He caused them to pass through the waters
And their enemies God drowned in the sea

Growing up in Greenock

The Broomy it was home to me
In a different time and place
My mind drifts back to long ago
And brings a smile upon my face

Bruno's chips and tick fae Pat
And lard from the butchers shop
The Broomhill Bar and tally vans
Which Bruno always tried to stop

Snowball fights in winter-time
And sledges racin doon the hill
And snowmen seen in every green
And extra socks to fight the chill

In summertime the days were long
We wandered far and we were free
To climb the hills and walk the cut
As long as we were hame for tea
