Where Are The Women?

All I see are angry young men
All I see is hatred
All I see is anti-American
All I see is vengeance
All I see is machishmo
Testosterone with nowhere to go
The way a stallion rises one last frantic time
As he sees the bridle and saddle coming
All I see are bloodthirsty mobs
In the supposed name of religion
But no religion condones any of this
Where are the women hiding?
Where are the voiceless women?
Those trained for generations to comply
About the world they are bringing babies into
Where are the women?

I Am Not The Freight Train

I am not the freight train
I am not the rail or the wheel
I am not the conductor or the caboose
I am not the the mail car
Neither the dining car nor the meal
I am not the rail or the spike
I am not the timbers or the pike
I am not the hammer or the strike
Neither the coal nor the fire
Neither the electricity nor the wire
I am hard and cold
I glow red and gold
and rust as I grow old
strong and bold
real
forged
beaten
blued
hard ened
quenched

A Friend Will Tell You

A friend will tell you
What nobody else will say
That there is toilet paper on your shoe
The rest is up to you

A friend will notice what you don't see
And will try to better you
A friend will try to pick you up
When you're feeling blue

Not only to yourself
But also to your friend
You must be true
The rest is up to you

If you are hurt by a friend
You both end up feeling blue
Because you care about each other
If you hurt, then the caring is true

Yellow Butterfly

Found a large wounded butterfly yesterday
beautiful in it's yellow and rainbow colors
Still alive, struggling frantically with broken wing
Carefully, sadly, placed it among the bright flowers
Knowing they will die together in the last days of summer
But hoping they might die together happily
Alive, the butterfly rested and clung to a flower
As if it was mended...
At peace to be returned to it's element
Not understanding the fate that had befallen it
A little girl picked up the detached wing
And clung to it, admiring it's beauty
As I pondered hers
And the circle of things
Envisioning my own death

Friends Can Sense

There are degrees of problems
a friend can sense when one of their freinds is hurting
It may be very sublte
or not so subtle
but a friend can tell

A friend will always come to the aid of their friend
this is what freinds do
A friend will always try to comfort
or lessen your burdon
or to make a frown into a smile

A friend will put aside differences
in times of trouble
and forget grudges
when they sense the there is an urgent problem

I have a friend who is hurting
I don't know how or why
but I sense something is wrrong

Silence Echos

Silence
makes my heart break
Silence
Love, does not make

Silence
Was it all just a terrible mistake?
Silence
Was love just a game, just fake?

Silence
Leaves me heartbroken
Silence
Kills he feeling behind words unspoken

Silence
has is a shield you hide behind
Silence
Guards what's on your mind

That Cat Won't Sit On Your Lap

She warned me
That cat won't sit on your lap
She won't let you pick her up
And she won't let you sit on your lap
She likes to rub her head on you
But that's it
She won't let you pick her up

The cat looked at me
I looked at her
I let her rub her head on my leg
I look at her again and made a cat noise
She said, you'll see, she doesn't let anybody pick her up
I just looked at the cat
She looked at me

I reached to pick her up and she flinched
But she came back
I looked at her
And picked her up

I Am Not A Good Husband

I am not a good husband
I am forced to say
because though I have loved
though I have sacrificed
and bent like a willow
and was sturdy as an oak
and learned to cook
and clean and sew
and raise children
and have been a nursemaid to the ill
and have been a jester
and a minstral
and have died
and was brought back to life
thought I've laughed and cried
built a strong house
mended the fences
painted the porches
and have installed the railings
baked cakes and pies

Do Men Also Wish To Be Courted

Contrary to what you've heard
What's been widely reported
Women aren't the only ones
Who dream of being courted

While women still seek to be the damsel
Locked many stories high in a tower
They deny it but like the man to have some power
Some romance, to guide and protect them as a tender flower

But men too have dreams it seems
Though little of them do they dare say
They dream of love and romance
But rarely feel true romance directed their way

So if you have a man you wish to hold hand-in-hand
If you wish him to love you and understand
If you love him and he makes your heart swoon
Show him love, in little ways while still giving him some room

Love Is In The Heart

Don't listen to what the neighbors say
Love is in the heart
Don't listen to what your friend's all say
Love is in the heart

Poeple try to give you their advice
But all I know is I feel her heartbeat
Even though we're apart
our hearts feel what others don't realize
Love is in the Heart

Don't listen to what the books say
Love is in the heart
Don't listen to that love advice
Love is in the heart

When my darling text's Goodnight
I feel safe and loved thought the night
If this love was a meal it would be supersize
our hearts feel what others don't realize
