Laura's Birthday
Laura's Birthday came and went
She didn't know, it's clear to see
No birthday cake
No party favors
No cards
No greetings from extending family
She just leaned her paws agains the gate
and wagged her tail excitedly
Her beautiful olive green hazel eyes
Looking up at me
Such a gentle creature
Full of love
With a heart as big as the sea
A little wonder
in her perfect chocolate tan coat
and her little nails
and eyelashes
and chocolate kiss nose
all go together perfectly
When all my friends are somewhere else

Brokenhearted Melody
I knew a woman
Treated me kind
Gave her all my dreams
Though she didn't know
Or if she did, she didn't say
I knew a woman
Mysterious and fine
Gaver her all my love
Seemed like, in a nick of time
But she didn't stay, didn't stay
I knew a woman
Soft and gentle
Stayed on my mind, on my mind
No need for sympathy
Maybe another day
I knew a woman
I never could let go

Unable To Sleep
didn't sleep well last night
I didn't dream last night
Losing all the battles
Losing all my fight
I didn't sleep well last night
Barely closed my eyes
tossed and turned and paced
until sunrise
I didn't dream last night
Any time I tried
I cried inside
and wanted to run and hide
I didn't sleep well last night
My world seems confused
Like a dead-end in a maze
like an ocean without a sky

Father's Day Reminder
A mother's work is never done
A father's work is rarely appreciated or much fun
Time to let any bad feelings be undone
Father's day is coming....dear daughter or son
Here's a why to honor your father
That isn't really hard
Whether he deserves it or not
Send a card
Today is a good day to get it in the mail
Throw it in the letter bale
The postal service delivers in rain or hail
But get done early, in case they fail
Before on decent cards there is a run
Go to the store today and 'get 'er done'
But if he's not here or passed away
Remember him kindly on Father's Day

Its An Icy Rainy Winter Day
Its an icy rainy Winter Day
Friends can't be found
there's nobody around
The furnace fan is the only sound
and my eyes are drooping to the ground
where cheerfulness and joy should abound
Its an icy rainy Winter day
I went to church today
bowed down to pray
Prayed for family and friends far away
who I miss so much, perhaps I'll write to say
then my feelings scatter and stray
Its an icy lonely Winter day
I've lost my way
Though positive I try to stay
strong for others some might say
I care about them anyway
my feelings lost or held at bay

Upon A Star
I'm wishing upon a star
Don't know where you are
or if your heart is free
to fall in love with me
I'm wishing upon a star
the one that twinkles in the sky
I really don't know how
and I really don't know why
But somehow I know
at least I hope and dream
for you to come along
oh please don't be long
because all I've wanted is a home
someplace that I belong
I'm wishing upon a star
Don't know where you are
but I can feel you somewhere in the sky

Paris (Tribute to Michael Jackson)
Paris is the City of Love
A favorite of Michael
The one with the white glove
Who cared about the world
Of it's people
Of God up above
Who shared with the world
The gifts that were on him bestowed
He used his life to try to pay back
Everthing that he felt was owed
And in doing so he gave us so much
Opened the doors for others
So they could walk without a crutch
Watching his memorial ceremony
Was at times on me too much for me
I wished that he too was alive to see
The outpouring of love from his friends
But the best testimony was saved for the end
His little girl Paris took to the mike
And her voice and his were so much alike

In The Solitude Of Prayer
In the solitude of prayer
deep
Lost in moments in between weep
and sleep
In the solitude of prayer
Lonliness finds a rest
Survived another test
Brings out our best
In the solitude of prayer
With nobody there
Except those far away
Reminded of their distant care
In the solitude of prayer
You pray for their smile
For their personal trial
Silently, all the while

Another Sad Story...Another Broken Heart
She once cared so much
If I am to belive the words she wrote
But she only cared while it suited her
And when I began to care
I felt compassion for her
And I treated her the only way I could
with honesty
But honesty was too harsh
She thought I was not on her side
She miscalculated again
A hair-trigger defense mechanism
I felt her hurt
But I despised it
Because all about her was false
except for the self loathing....that was honest
and honest too was this:
Her act of caring
but her inability to care for anyone
But herself
In parting I felt her private hell

Irony Of Me
I can fix a flat tire
I can fix a bike
I can splice a wire
I can drive a spike
I can tune a car
or plaster a wall
I can weld a metal bar
can cut a tree and watch it fall
I can install a floor of tile
I can sharpen a blade
I can make little chidren smile
or make a golf ball fade
I can do most anything
But I can't mend my heart
It's lonely and abandoned
and broken apart
