Fade

Trying to see the tunnel's light
This journey's fight
It bleeds my heart
The broken will
The faded zeal
Where am I now
All have come
All have promised
They are gone
With all I have missed
Hold me now
Take my hand
Show me somehow
I'll reach the land
The promised land
The distant shore
This melting iceland
It drowns my soul
With all I've lost
Sorrow seeps through

Untitled

If life be life
Then what be death
If there be joy
Then why thrives pain
If peace can be
Then why this war
If good be real
Then who is good
If fate be fixed
Then why the twist
If bad be bad
Then where went good
If time be life
Then where runs it
If death be the finish line
Then who has won
If money be power
Then who has it
If love be true
Then where lies it

Tomorrow

Tomorrow it is
Tomorrow we will
See where the roads they lead
Tomorrow's my dream
Tomorrow's the better me
Tomorrow never may be
Looking inside tomorrow's head
Tomorrow pretends to be brain dead
Tomorrow wants me to long for him
I spend today seeing tomorrow's beam
Tomorrow is there
Yesterday's tomorrow is here
Yet tomorrow I seek
My lamp's got enough oil and wick
Tomorrow where are you?
I've seen today but I look out for tomorrow's dew
Not today, I'll take care of that tomorrow
Tomorrow I'm here, tomorrow you're today
From 5years old, I'm 50years old one more day
The hour-glass spins and sands they turn

A Secret

I did something wrong
Those who know, know
Those who don't, don't
I've lived with the guilt
From that day to this day
We take a stroll each day
And make a roll in a hay
I've done my time
I guess...its more than taking your dime
Or you holding your wound in violet iodine
Hoping I'll tell you in this line
What it is indeed I've done
Don't hold your breath
Till my dust returns to earth
And I stand at heaven's gate
Waiting for my reward on a revenge plate
For all I've done wrong on this wait
Will God himself say
Turn and go away
Or come and sit and stay

Love's Last Kiss

This is the end of the beginning
His lungs supplied the air for my living
We kissed all night long with his life for my breathing
The dawn should have choked the cock from crowing
By the sun's first kissing
Disdain was all we had in our chest's lefting
We fought and went our whoring
I sat one evening by the beach watching
The sun kiss the sea goodbye
And watching the sunset set its time
When there came a tapping on my shoulder
David was looking at me but not really
I grabbed him close and had a fourth symphony
I took back the rib god had made me from
He held me so tightly, my breath was gone
I hit the ground as he left me go
He took his last breath from my mouth
I unveiled his eyes...he was blind
And loved me blindly.

Poetry And I

Scars are poetic
Poetry tells the story
The whole was broken
The break is painful
Pain is sadistic
Sadness is poetic
Poetry is healing
Healing is helpful
Help is all I need
Need is what drives me home
Home is where air breathes
Breath is what makes this girl beat
Beat is what life's done
Done, was me giving up
Up was where I was headed
Up is where I'm headed...I think
Thought is what drills me deep
Deep is where my mind lies
Lies make my conscience sigh
Sighs make my guilt rise

The Purpose(Musing)

Woke up this morning
Decided I was gonna keep writing
I was gonna write more
Till my fingers hurt
And my soul bled on white pages
For I have been a lot
A daughter, a sister, a friend
A scientist, an artist, a thinker
But within the core of my being burns a fire
Though quenched severally
Its ashes like a phoenix re-ignites
I am a poet
Amidst all purposes, lies this purpose
Everyone's born to be one thing
Each may be different things to different people
But each is born to be one thing
So BE!
For the world needs you.
I earlier mentioned I was a thinker
I've written several great poems and articles in my head

Heart Of Hearts

I'm in a frame of mind
You wouldn't wanna frame in your mind
See, in my mind
I love you and show you so
But in your mind my love for you has
withered more
The space in time makes you no longer
mine
This space in time takes my all, but
that's fine
Though far from me and all these thorns
If you stay one more day, you'll see the
roses born
Times like these have always been
The pain you bear I've always seen
On days like those I don't seem to be
your kin
Just know I bear my own sin
As the knives they prod your delicate
skin

Gray Feathered Bird (A Birthday Poem for Wole Soyinka)

A bird flew across this land
Seventy-eight odd years ago and
The land was chaotic but now was silent
Which smiled and whispered 'a great' had been born
And none but all will be lifted by this special one
The heavens had let him go with a pen
Tucked beneath his wings to fly far, far away
And make a stop in a nation in need of a hero
And genius who had the heart of a child
And the tenacity of a warrior
To fight for the freedom of his comrades
And sing so loud and beautifully
Against the oppression of the weak
The skies were blue this very day
As God and his angels stood and cheered
The grey- feathered laureate
A bird flew into this land of ours
And in a dark sky, set a rainbow
That all who fly in after him
Will add their colours
