On Becoming a Priest…

Tomorrow may not come at all;
Listen today to Jesus’ call;
Now is the time to truly act;
This is the truth of life and fact.

The man of poverty can shine,
More than the moon or sun so fine;
Humble yourself and make accord
For life, with Almighty God, Lord.

Stands before him, the Holy Cross;
God shows that Jesus Christ is boss;
The Monstrance is Christ’s earthly home;
The penitent is most welcome.

Only the soul pure can commune,
And walk or run to divine tune;
The Eucharist is prime in life,
No matter any kind of strife.

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Mark (Chapter 16)

When Sabbath Day was o’er, Mary, Salome
And Mary Magdalene had bought spices,
To go anoint the body of Jesus.
They reached the tomb when sun has just risen;
On week’s first day, they wondered who will roll
The stone away for them at tomb’s entrance.
They came but saw the large stone rolled away!

Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sit,
In robe of white, clad; they were so amazed.
He said to them, “Don’t be amazed, you seek
Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified;
He’s not here; Behold the place He was laid!
He has been raised from the dead and alive”
Go tell His disciples and Peter too,
“He goes ahead to Galilee;
There they will see Him, as He told! ”

Afraid, they fled out of the tomb, trembling;
They did not speak to anyone right then.

Bible in Poetry: 1 John 5

All who believe Jesus is Christ,
Is born of Father and love Him,
And love His child as well, in truth;
We know we love children of God,
By love and obeying commands,
Which are not burdensome at all.

God-born, all overcome the world-
The victory of our faith and world;
He who believes Jesus as Christ,
God’s Son, has overcome the world.

He came by water and of blood;
He did not come by water just,
But by both and spirit proves that;
Because the spirit is the truth,
It testifies about Jesus, .
For, there are three that testify:
The Spirit, water and the blood;
And the three are in agreement.

The Fight Against Corruption

The country cannot bear it anymore;
The vice has gained in-roads to every sphere;
Corruption rules the roost in daily life;
The weed has grown much better than good plants!

The common man’s the most affected one;
Corruption stays in forms, guises galore;
Taxes are worse and thanks to corruption;
No one is happy with the pay he gets!

Cheating has turned to be the way of life;
Stealing is not a crime for corrupted;
Corruption is the prime cause for price-rise;
The big cheats thrive despite the stricter laws.

Progress has been stifled by corruption;
The hand is used to get bribes all life-time;
The tongue speaks lies with ease and variety;
The time has come to root out corruption.

Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI’s US Visit,2008

A poetic synopsis

It was succor to a nation
That still grieved;
The people prayed for those bereaved;
The Pope arrived with Christ as Hope;
The Catholics here, no longer in darkness
Would ev’r grope;

They saw the master teacher-
Theologian and Chief Pastor;
He came here with a clear-cut aim
And was clear victor in the game.

He uttered words with precision;
He made all see his great vision;
The Apostle showed profound care;
His speeches were a balm, so rare;
He strengthened his brothers’ cause,
As faith here was on a downhill course.

‘Live and Let Live! ’

‘Live and let live’ – all just say;
But, do the opposite things everyday;
‘Live and let live ‘– is the one and only way,
By which all can live happily today.

This earth is one and human race is one;
Same problems confront all under the sun;
There are so many things that stay undone;
‘Few things are wrought by money or by gun! ’

The division of lands is just Nature’s;
The air we breathe belongs to all creatures;
It cannot be confined to borders made;
When rain is brought by God, all borders fade.

No nation or its peoples have all things;
This world belongs to paupers and too, kings;
Umpteen problems to all, a lifetime brings;
The sky is same for ‘winged’ and without wings!

Sibling Children at Play

Two sibling children are at play;
The ‘horse’ is elder sister, Jill,
Whose younger brother ‘driver’ Bill
Sits on an ‘Umbrella-cart’, gay!

‘Giddap! ’ ‘Giddap! ’ shouts Bill to her;
‘Pull me, pull me, pull me faster! ’
The fuming, panting tired Jill,
Finds it hard pulling Bill ‘uphill’?

The ‘Umbrella-cart’ moves with speed;
Poor Jill is pulling fast indeed;
Her brother giggles, laughs aloud;
The cart-drive makes him truly proud!

But, Jill is only five-years’ old;
Her baby brother is quite bold;
She does not have the strength to pull;
But give a joy-ride for Bill, she’ll!

Our Lady of Sorrows (Feast day: September,15th)

O Lady of Sorrows! Please hear
Our grief and add them to yours, dear;
With swollen eyes and bloody tear,
You showed to farmers near.

‘To farmers two,
At Milan’s Rho,
When they came to
See you! ’

The blessed pieta
Became a miracle
Bringing millions to
The Griever’s Basilica!

The blood-stained kerchief lies
In a silver reliquary;
As proof of the miracle
To world today, it stays!

Bible Stories: David and Goliath

The Israelites with Saul as King were sad;
The Philistines with Goliath as head
Had challenged them at Socoh in Judah,
To send a warrior who dare defeat him.
For forty days, the king was in chaos;
They could not find a person for combat!

David, the shepherd lad was bringing food
For his older brothers daily by foot;
He heard the king’s promise to reward one,
Who would defeat Goliath in combat.

He went to Saul and told his desire;
He was undaunted and had great courage;
Saul had no choice but try him out at last;
David declined the armor from the king!

With just a sling upon his shoulder and
Five pebbles taken from the brook near-by,
He went to meet Goliath with his staff!

Speaking Against ‘ Da Vinci Code’

What Jesus did until thirty
Years, isn’t mentioned in the Bible;
For next three years, he traveled wide,
To preach the Word of God’s Kingdom.

A busy man, a Master too –
With flock of Apostles behind:
He preached through parables to all,
And earned good respect ’midst people.

He spoke in parables;
He performed miracles;
His wisdom was so great,
That Pharisees did hate!

Yet, all the while, He knew His end!
A painful death on Holy Cross –
For sins of entire mankind;
He had His Father’s cause always!
