Her Anguished Heart Looks On Alone…

With door ajar, she looks outside
To see if he is returning –
Her lover left her suddenly;
She never knows the reason why!

With anguished heart, she wonders why
Her world has turned topsy-turvy;
Was she to blame for what happened?
Was he at fault for leaving her?

With unkempt hair and tears from eyes,
She looks deep down the road ahead;
Her heart is weighed by sorrow that
Seems too much for her to bear up!

Her lover left her weeks ago!
She has been all alone ev’r since;
The solitude is too much for
A lady’s heart to live for long!

Jesus Tempted

“The Tempter tempts the Creator –
Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The Lord was just a man like us
But lived a sin-free life on earth.”

The Spirit then took Jesus Christ
Into the desert for some days;
For forty days and forty nights,
He fasted and fervently prayed.

And in that weary state of mind
And body when Christ Jesus lay,
The Tempter Satan came beside
To test the Lord and make Him prey!

Oh, what a time, the Tempter chose
To try to bait the Lord Jesus!
He didn’t spare ev’n the Son of God,
And chose His weakest moment too.

Lo, This is Earthly Life!

A medico girl, young she was;
A brilliant Madurai lass;
While coming to her afternoon class,
She DIED by the road-side, alas!

A van had hit her directly;
She met her death most instantly;
With clavicle and fractured skull,
She was injured occipital;
And in the shatt’ring glass’ sounds,
She bled like hell and died at once!

She’as rushed to our hospital, altho’
She passed away in minutes, oh!
In a pool of blood, her head just lay;
To save her life, there was no way.

Doctors and students, rushed to see
Her corpse but stood just silently;
Fate had been so cruel to snatch

Bible in Poetry: Philemon 1

Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ,
And his brother, Timothy writes:
To Philemon, friend and worker,
To Apphia, beloved sister,
To Archippus, fellow soldier,
To the church that meets in your home,
‘From God, our Father, grace and peace,
And from Jesus Lord, be with you.’

Thanksgiving and Prayer:

I thank my God always brothers,
And remember you in prayers,
Because about your faith, I hear,
In Jesus Lord and saints so dear.

I exhort you to share your faith,
And understand all things in Christ;
Your love has given me great joy,
And refreshed hearts of saints, ahoy!

Bible Stories: Job (Chapter XXX)

The younger ones hold me in scorn,
Whose fathers I didn’t treat like dogs;
To me, they were so weak and torn,
And destitute, greedy like hogs!

Much hunger seemed to be their lot;
They fled to parched waste-lands for food;
They plucked saltwort and roots that rot;
Like banished thieving men, they stood.

They lived in caves of sand and stone,
Amongst bushes, they stood alone,
And dwelt atop the slopes of hills,
Huddled together ’midst nettles.

Out of their lands, all driven out,
They were such men, a name without;
They mock at me now endlessly;
They hurt so very ruthlessly.

India’s 62nd Independence Day

We celebrate an Independence Day –
The 62nd on 15th August;
But ‘All’s not well’ with India today!
Let Indians do introspection first.

Our freedom got hasn’t improved poor man’s lot!
Corruption rules the roost in many ways;
In selfish maze, most Indians are caught;
We must improve truly our global face.

Much heinous crimes are increasingly done;
Terrorism is something we must fight;
All vice in life, we Indians must shun;
Our hearts and minds must always think aright.

We ought to labor hard with new-found zeal;
The key to success is perseverance;
All inter-state wounds, we must surely heal;
The country needs much better governance.

Bible Stories: Job (Chapter XXXVI)

O wait a bit and I’ll tell you,
Some more justice, I got to do;
My words on God’s behalf aren’t o’er;
My knowledge comes from the Maker.

My theme cannot fail me indeed;
The God of perfection will lead;
The obstinate of hearts are left
By God and wicked’s life bereft.

God vindicates the oppressed one;
The just man can’t be over-run;
The deserved ones are given rights;
The wicked spend just sleepless nights.

God sets the kings upon their thrones;
For all atheists, no one bemoans;
The righteous will be exalted;
The unscrupulous, forev’r humbled.

Indian Medicos on Strike, Nov 26,2007

They want to make their course a year longer:
The training period to be made two years;
They want youngsters to go to villages,
And work for paltry stipend for one year.

The idea mooted just by one person-
No doubt ‘tis great but why choose House-surgeons?
Can not the senior doctors do better?
But do you think they will ever offer?

They want to save on salary sums paid;
They want a steady source of fresh doctors;
They want to send them as part of training;
They plan to send them all under duress!

The nation’s medicos are on strike now!
-On eve of forthcoming exams shortly;
What waste of student-hours and emotions!
They could miss University exams!

World Tb Day,2012

(Part of celebrations at IRT PMC, Perundurai)

A hundred years ago, Koch found
The bacillus causing TB,
That gave the world's scientists the ground
To find the drugs as remedy.

Then, TB was a pandemic,
And was called ‘Consumption' that killed
The high and low, as all turned sick
And sanatoria all filled.

Most people feared the ‘phthisis' much;
And treatment was by good food, air;
And nurses gave the magic touch
Of kindness, tender loving care.

The bacilli by droplets spread
To lungs, and every body part;
The person melted, ridden-bed -

My Wife Beloved

My wife belov’d, you are my wealth;
You are in life, my soul’s sole health!
Companion for life, my wife,
By sacred union for life.

My life could be empty always,
If not for you, sad would be days;
The Stars cannot really shine,
And all Nature cannot be fine.

My wife, you are a gem so rare;
In life, you are the face most fair;
The most precious a pearl from deep,
Much more precious than things I keep.

My caresses, you remember;
My weaknesses, you do ignore;
You love me much- Do I deserve?
And faithfully in life, you serve.
