Parables of Jesus: ‘The Lost Sheep’
A shepherd with his hundred sheep,
Was grazing them in a meadow green;
When to his horror he noticed
That one was missing from the flock:
‘It wandered off and had got lost! ’
‘It wandered off and had got lost! ’
He left the ninety-nine behind
In the open, open country-side;
He went in search of the missing one,
And finding, lifted it with love,
Placed it on his shoulders, neck,
And came back to his flock with joy;
And came back to his flock with joy.
“Rejoice! I’ve found my sheep,
Just one out of a hundred fold,
One that was lost sometime ago,
I love it dearly anyhow!
Rejoice, my friends and neighbors all,

Have a Heart for Children, Poor!
In poverty born, bred, they live
In misery and future bleak,
All famished, ravished and ill-clad –
Most children of the modern world!
Their parents have to slog all day;
They can’t afford a single meal;
They cannot go to school but stay
As rag-pickers all life and earn.
What folly have their parents done?
The poor are unlucky always;
Their future is like broken glass,
That cannot be together put!
In mud-walled huts and roofs of leaves,
With longing eyes that beg for food,
Half-naked children wait to hear
The foot-steps of their parents come.

Bible in Poetry: James 3
Taming the Tongue:
1Don’t you presume to be teachers,
Because you know that we who teach
Will be God judged much more strictly.
2 We stumble in so many ways.
If one is faultless in his speech,
He is a perfect man always,
Able to keep body in check.
3 When we put bits into horse-mouth,
To make it obey our commands,
We can turn the whole animal.
4 Or take ships as an example:
Although they are so large in size,
And are driven by strong winds on seas,
They’re steered by just a small rudder
Wherev’r the pilot wants to go.
5 Likewise the tongue is small a part
Of body, but it makes great boasts.
A spark though small starts forest-fires!

Ballad: Pope Benedict XVI in US,2008
The Apostle of peace had come:
Pope Benedict by name;
To US, where he was welcome,
With missionary aim.
‘Let faith in earthly life, God find;
Christ is the only hope,
For modern world, and all mankind, ’
Said Benedict, the Pope.
In doldrums lies, world of today;
Man’s faith in God is weak;
Most think that science has final say;
So, God, most men don’t seek.
‘Let faith in earthly life, God find;
Christ is the only hope,
For modern world, and all mankind, ’
Said Benedict, the Pope.

Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity
Is India Still Secular?
A nun was gang-raped in public;
A priest was beaten black and blue!
Half-naked, both were paraded;
While police-men stood near-by mute!
They burnt houses of Christians!
They torched the churches and killed some;
They reconverted quite a few;
‘Christians have no place in own land! ’
This was how Kandhamal returned
the love and charity of both;
They suffered for the sake of Christ!
Shame on a nation with such crimes!
Religions have sense of values;
But fanatics don’t have any;
Are not the Christians Indians too;

Happiness Is Not Comforts
‘Does Happiness depend upon comfort? ’
The answer is definitely a big, ‘No! ’
Happiness lies in not comforts alone!
Happiness is not a static quality of the human mind, body and soul.
All can’t remain happy all the time.
It would be foolishness to wish for a life, filled with happiness alone;
Happiness is more when woes come in-between.
Happiness is just a feeling weird!
Life could become boring and monotonous, when happiness is prolonged.
Even the pauper can be happier than the prince.
Even the beggar smiles and sleeps well, despite much strife.
Happiness is a frame of mind that’s dynamic in nature;
Happiness is a kind of mood of feeling very well;
Happiness is a state of one, when life seems worth living;
Happiness is something strange that varies with time, experience and wisdom.
Happiness is all within;

The Clouds of Change Will Bring Rain of Blessings!
Those days of childhood were the best in life -
Life when as kids, despite the wily world;
Our parents saw we got the best comforts;
We were so innocent but enjoyed life!
It was the same when we had joined this place!
The beauty of the campus knew no words;
The working conditions were congenial;
Decades two later, ‘All is not that well! '
Our Institution too seems at cross-roads!
‘Who will now run the place? ' none can predict;
Whoever holds the reins, none can foresee!
All things will have to change for good but when?
Nevertheless, we must do our duty;
This teamwork must go on and never fail;
Integrity and unity, we need;
We should not lose our hearts in the meantime!

The Pope in US
(A poetic gist by Dr John Celes, India)
A historical moment for the world;
Pope 265 set foot on US soil;
Pope Benedict XVI was his name
The Apostle of peace and human rights;
He planned his itinerary with shrewdness;
He touched upon all themes that plague the world;
He brought the only hope to US- Christ;
‘With faith, let’s encounter the living God.’
He timed his visit when he thought most fit;
‘Humanism must be revived quickly.’
Modern world dabbled with key issues now.
The foundation of faith was in doldrums.
The heart of man could not be won by war;
For lasting peace, dialogue was needed;
He left his mark, indelible behind;

Spate in Persecution of Indian Christians?
Conversions come from God, the Almighty!
The ways of God are strange, unfathomable;
Christ Jesus forecast persecutions when
One follows Him on road to Calvary.
The Bible is the Word of God, most High;
The words are true and give light to mankind;
The words can work miracles in minds, hearts;
None can prevent the souls that heed His call!
A few fanatics spread disharmony;
The nation ought to ban these groups of men;
They sow the seeds of discord amidst all;
‘All Indians are brothers and sisters’ – Know.
Christians of India are Indians as well.
Why destroy churches, unleash on them, hell?
Why kill and maim the 3% of souls?
They are ready to lay down lives for God!

Bible in Poetry: Galatians 5
Freedom in Christ:
For freedom, Jesus set us free;
For righteous things you stand firmly;
Take not the yoke of slavery!
I, Paul tell you, so, mark my words,
In being circumcised, you don’t,
Allow Christ to be of value.
To every man circumcised then,
He’s bound to obey the whole law;
Although, you’re justified in law,
You are alienated from Christ Lord,
And fallen away from His grace.
By faith, we wait with eagerness
For righteousness, for the Spirit;
Circumcision has no value,
In Jesus Christ without this hope;
