Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Matthew (Chapter 28)

When Sabbath day was over then,
And week’s first day was still in dawn,
Mary and Mary Magdalene,
Both came to see the tomb again.

Behold, there came an earthquake great,
An angel came from heaven’s gate,
And having rolled away the stone,
The angel sat upon it lone.

He appeared bright akin lightning,
And dressed in white, snowy clothing;
The guards with fear lay shaken then,
And turned at once almost dead men!

The angel told the two women:
‘You fear not for, I’m from heaven!
You search for Him, Jesus, I know,
The one who was crucified, Oh! ’

A One-Child Policy Won’t Work

A billion mouths to feed looks too scary!
A billion need shelters and clothes as well;
A billion need education and jobs;
A billion seems quite frightening to cope with!

World’s food is lesser, prices are climbing;
The human resource has a peak effect;
The population boom is not man’s realm;
Can you prevent the lives loss from great floods?

No laws can curb the population boom;
Man must be humane to all mankind first;
Men shouldn’t be treated akin to caged beasts;
God only knows the future of our earth!

But democracy, communism fail;
One child a family brings more problems;
Can you guarantee health, long life for one?
Lost are lives by accidents, diseases.

Bible in Poetry: James 5

Warning to Rich Oppressors:

1Now listen, all you people rich:
You weep and wail for, misery
That’s coming forth upon you soon.
2Your wealth has rotted silently,
And moths have eaten up your clothes.
3Your gold, silver is corroded.
Their corrosion will testify
’Gainst you, and eat your flesh like fire.
You’ve hoarded wealth in the last days.
4 And look! The wages you didn’t pay
The workmen who had mowed your fields
Are crying out against your way.
The cries of harvesters have reached,
The Almighty Lord’s ears truly.
5 You lived on earth in luxury,
And self-indulgence, all your life.
You’ve fattened up yourselves on slaughter-day!
6 You’ve condemned, murdered innocent,

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Peter 1 (Chapter 3)

‘Be submissive to husbands, ’ Wives;
In case, they don’t believe the Word,
Seeing purity of your lives,
Their souls can be brought to the Lord.’

‘Your beauty shouldn’t be external,
From hair and clothes and jewelry,
But must be wholly internal,
From gentle and quiet spirit,
Which is of worth more in God’s sight.’

‘For, this is how holy women
Of past revealed their beauty great,
By putting hope in Heaven’s ways,
And submitting to their one mate,
Like Sarah calling Abraham, ‘Master’! .
You are her daughters when you do
Things rightly without any fear.’

‘And husbands, live in the same way

Teamwork’s Best

Let’s learn from birds what team-work is about!
Let birds teach us the advantages brought;
Let’s forge ahead in ‘We’s’ and not in ‘I’s’!
Let’s fly like birds together in life’s skies!

The leader bears the brunt along the way;
It has to fly ahead on, come what may;
It keeps the direction for birds behind;
The strong air-resistance, it does not mind!

The ‘V’ formation lessens air friction;
It helps all birds in ease of flight-action;
The wing-beating of birds is lessened much;
Their movement gains a sturdy, gentle touch.

’Tis best to fly in groups in harmony;
The single bird that flies looks so funny;
Your mind is stronger when friends are with you;
Encouragement comes, seeing others do.

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Mark (Chapter 11)

And when they neared Jerusalem,
Bethphage, Bethany (Mount Olives) ,
He sent disciples two and told,
“Go to the village, opposite you,
On entering it, you’ll find a colt,
Tethered, on which no one ev’r sat.
Untie and bring it here. If asked,
“Why do you do this? ” say, “The Master needs.
He’ll send it back soon afterwards.”

They found the colt as Jesus said.
They answered queries as He’d told.
They brought the colt, their cloaks on it.
Some people spread their cloaks en way.
Some spread cut leafy-branches too.
Then Jesus sat and rode on it.

Some went ahead. Some followed Him,
And said, “Hosanna in Highest!
Blest is He who comes in God’s name.

To Whomsoever Concerned

I see your ‘waxen’ expressionless face;
I see your ‘marble ‘eyes but you know not;
I see your dirt behind your back though clean;
I see your white-collared criminality.

I see you wear a ‘mask’ upon your face;
I see you smile so artificially;
I see your ambiguous statements made;
I see your smooth-tongued nature with great ease.

I see your white lies, so daringly made;
I see your greed for money increasing;
I see your voice that’s pseudo-endearing;
I see the monotony of your speech.

I feel so sad for kind of person you’re;
I feel so sorry you will not be good;
I feel so desperate for souls like you;
I feel I’ve failed to turn you to new leaf.

The Original Sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden

The devil knew that Eve was weak;
So chose to tempt the lady first;
A Liar by nature, Satan,
It asked Eve tell what God had bid.

Poor Eve knew not the wily snake,
And the Tempter's evil design;
She blurted out the truth God said;
‘They could eat fruits of every tree.

But not the one, God had forbade,
For, death befell the one who ate.'
But Satan told innocent Eve,
It wasn't the truth what God had said.

By eating fruit of ‘knowledge' tree,
One came to know the good from bad!
Your eyes open, you'll be like Gods,
And never die as God had said.

Pope John Paul II (A Biography Poem Sequence)

Karol Josef Wojtyla was
Born in Poland’s town, Wadowice,
On May,18th,1920,
Grew up to be remarkably!

The son of Pole army father,
And loving school-teacher mother,
He was athlete, soccer-player,
A dare-devil river-swimmer!

He loved to be a good actor;
Love for literature, a factor;
He worked part-time as stone-cutter,
As Nazis downed every shutter!

When eight-years’ old, his mother died;
When still quite young, his brother died;
When twenty years old, father died;
The loss of dear lives, he couldn’t hide!

Bible in Poetry: Revelation 6

The Seals:

1As I was watching Lamb open
The first of seven seals, by then,
I heard one of the creatures four
Utter in voice like thunder, 'Come! '
2 I looked, and there before me stood
A horse, all white! rider with bow;
He was given a crown, and then,
He rode out like a conqueror,
With mind and heart, on conquest bent.
3When Lamb opened the second seal,
The second creature said then, 'Come! '
4 A fiery horse, all red came out!
And to its rider was given,
The pow’r to take off peace from earth,
And make men slay one another.
To him was given a large sword.
5When Lamb opened the third seal then,
I heard the third creature say, 'Come! '
