Barefoot In The Summer Sun
Running in the fields all day,
Chewing on a blade of grass.
Barefoot in the summer sun,
Watching clouds as they roll past.
Endless humid summer days,
Fishing for cats down by the stream.
Fast asleep most of the time,
Catching 'big ones' in my dreams.
Skimming stones for half the day,
Letting Spot run wild and free.
Oh, to be twelve years old again,
Once more like it used to be.

Magic Mystic Light
Magic is the mystic glow,
Of the full moon's radiant light.
And though it rises ever slow,
From the sky it shines so bright.
There is a certain magic in the moon,
With clouds streaming across it's face.
As you stare it makes you swoon,
In it's magical embrace.
Illuminating everything at night,
Like a Goddess in he sky.
With her magic mystic light,
Blessing her children from on high.

Spring At Last Is Here
Everything has turned to green again,
Spring at last is here.
The fluffy clouds bring the spring rain,
The sky cries it's gentle tears.
The oaks and elms sport new attire,
Bluebonnets dot the land.
Mockingbirds sing on the telephone wire,
The harmonizing sounds so grand.
The Earth has come to life once more,
Spring is in the air.
Up in the sky Peregrines soar,
New life is everywhere.

A Pecan Tree
The Pecan tree, he's no one's fool,
My papi once told me.
As long as the weather still is cool,
Not a single leaf, on him you'll see.
Sometimes it's May, or maybe June,
Before his leaves appear.
He never sports new clothes too soon,
Not until the weather's clear.
But once in leaf, no tree around,
Comes close to the Pecan.
With shade and fruit, he does abound,
Standing in the Texas sun.

Pale
Pale blue clouds, in a pale blue sky,
Pale sea birds, fly every which way.
O'er the pale blue sea, they softly fly,
Throughout the pale blue day.
Pale brown grass, withering alone,
Amid the sand dunes dying.
Pale as a sun bleached animal bone,
As you hear the sea breeze sighing.
Pale grey mist upon the sea,
Slowly creeping to the shore.
Pale giant tarpons jumping free,
As the pale Atlantic, gently roars.

The Dreamless Sleep
Sleep now beloved the dreamless sleep,
Lost forever to this sphere.
Never to awaken from the abyss so deep,
Or to see the ones that you held dear.
Sleep now and rest your weary head,
Thy time of rest is nigh.
You look so peaceful in your bed,
No rising chest no heartfelt sigh.
Sleep now beloved the dreamless sleep,
Nothing shall disturb thy rest.
Sowing of ages you now will reap,
Embarking on your timeless quest.

I'm Happy
I'm so happy when I see you smile,
Especially if I have'nt seen you in a while.
And I go delirious like a child.
I'm so happy when I see your face,
I am so happy, that's just the case.
That I walk around in a lovers daze.
I'm happy when I hear your voice,
Even though I loose my poise,
Just like a child with his favorite toys.
I'm happy just to know your'e mine,
I'm happy when I wake and find,
That you were next to me all the time.

Blank Mind
There's a clean sheet of paper, with nary a word,
And number two pencils sharpened so fine.
Yet my mind undoubtedly is not on board,
My muse I must have left behind.
Here I sit without a single thought,
Staring out the window pane.
Without the inspiration I have sought,
No electrical impulses in my brain.
My mind is a desert, life hidden away,
Only rocks and sand abound.
My thoughts have a seven second delay,
No inspiration is to be found.

The Purple Sage
Purple sage is a beautiful thing,
Flowering in violet,
In winter or spring.
The leaves vary from silver to green,
It grows wild in Texas,
Of the wild it's the king.
Flowers are white, purple, or pink,
But only the purple,
Makes you mind stop and think.
Songs and stories, have come down through time,
Of the purple sage,
In it's inhospitable climes.
If your'e ever in Texas, come check it out,
Cause the purple sage,
Is what Texas is about.

My Fishing Hole
I'm going down to my fishing hole,
Got my tackle box, and Garcia pole.
Gonna catch a mess of fish for lunch,
Fry em up in my pan, I love that crunch.
With a bitsy minnow on my line,
I'll catch enough, so all can dine.
Hoping for blue gills and sunfish too,
I love fishing that's what I do.
I got a sandwich and a couple of beers,
I do love fishing, I hold it dear.
Look at this fishing hole, what a beautiful sight,
Hold on, hold on now, I got a bite.
