A Walk in Mansarovar Park
The sun was ready to set,
The sky had turned amber.
I felt compelled to get
Out, as I suddenly remembered,
How the view made me feel.
I could miss a meal,
Not this gorgeous sight.
It just seems right.
The birds are homeward bound.
They are so high in the sky I can’t hear a sound,
I feel in harmony
It’s kind of funny,
Here in the Mansarovar Park,
Where I come for a walk
I feel one with my creator,
And all the mental layers
Of fear, anxiety just disappear.
It uplifts my spirit and mood

Simply grass....! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Grass is very pretty;
But it’s not simply grass,
Or just stuff of lawns.
If you go up and close,
You see a world
Of flowers, waiting
To be discovered.
Grass flowers keep a low profile;
Their colour, height not loud
To scream from far off…
But as I sit on grass
On a humid day, As Sun goes down
West in May,
Or at mid-noon in December
On an icy cold day;
Somehow they remind me
Of a six month old,
Who first learns to crawl
And raises his neck and turns

Lessons from Life- couplets
Misery loves company, thrive on self pity,
Wise advice, maintain equanimity.
Money is the bane of even close blood ties.
It’s best to donate wealth before you die.
To enjoy the cool night of a full moon
Have to walk bare feet in desert in noon.
If gloom and rancour be your bed fellow,
Seek good company, let spirit mellow.
Friendship is bound to go for a sixer,
As soon as money comes into the picture.
All cherished beliefs, values get churned,
As life compels to learn, unlearn, relearn.
Buffalos beat the heat in muddy pond,
While man swoons under palm fronds.

A Tribute to Motherhood
I was going on a journey by train,
Outside it had started to rain.
My eyes rested on a mother and a child.
It is only possible to find
Such a look of tenderness on a mother’s face.
It was a moment filled with grace.
As the child looked up at her,
It instinctively knew it was her mother
And he can have complete trust
In her, that she will always put him first.
Compassionate, forgiving, tender and loving
At times firm, but forever giving.
God created mothers as he couldn’t be everywhere,
So each child could get his fair share
Of protection and love, when in need.

Fe fi fo fum, beware here I come! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Fe, fi fo fum.
Beware, nani here I come
She jumped like a monkey
And wrapped her legs around me.
Gave me a tight hug and a kiss
You are really a darling miss.
Then we wriggled our bums
And laughed like hoodlums.
You watched it on TV
Yes, she nodded acting sheepish.
I saw it on IPL
Cheer leaders dance and yell.
My, you have grown big.
In July I just turned six.

Happiness
I am no Christ, Buddha or Gandhi
Or a wandering fakir or sanyasi.
I am an ordinary human being,
If someone slaps me
I cannot turn the other cheek.
I don't think it makes me weak.
I find it difficult to walk
On the eight fold path.
I have no lofty mission
To free mankind of suffering.
If I can make one person smile,
It makes me feel satisfied.
For I can not spread happiness and cheer,
If I am miserable and full of fear.
I cannot be totally selfless,
And efface my identity.
I owe it to myself to love me,

Grief and Loss
Words fall short
To express a sense of loss.
It can only be felt
In the emptiness it left.
In the longing of your heart,
In some chamber of your soul,
For a dear one gone
In a flash, we are forever apart.
In the silent tears
That flow down your cheeks,
Soaking the pillow case
As you lie curled up in bed.
In the half smile
That never reaches your eyes,
The void that fills you
And makes you wonder why are you alive.

A Shift in Perception
A senior citizen,
Who was bed ridden,
In the course of conversation
Calmly mentioned:
That these modern inventions
Are quite a boon.
Since I can not move,
I just order my groceries
And ask for home delivery.
The shopkeepers are eager to oblige
Without an extra charge.
When I had a fall,
I just called my doctor who makes home calls.
I surf the net
And have friends I haven’t met.
Age is no bar,
We chat for hours.

A joy ride on mobike...! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Arms around your waist,
And hairflying in the air,
That first joyride on mobike
On Delhi roads sealed our fate.
A lot can happen over coffee,
The best in town you will find,
As we walked hand in hand
Through a plush hotel lobby.
As we sat, you said say yes now,
What, we have just met, I protest.
I know for sure, it’s destined
Please just don’t ask me how.
Love at first sight,
I laughed out loud,
Happens in Mills and Boon,
As we slipped out at night.

An untold Story of a Pebble
Blissfully, at sunrise, walking
On the white sandy river beach,
I folded my denim jeans,
And bent down to reach
Out for some pebbles
Resplendent in the Sun’s rays,
Below a moss covered rock
In the palest of hues,
Childlike, picture of
Innocence…
Please, I beseech
Let me rest a while,
Am tired of an arduous
Journey…
Did I hear
A silent plea
Or my mind as usual
Was in overdrive…
