Destiny has a way
To enter even through
Closed doors.

You may believe
It will leave
You alone, at peace
If you shut out life
But that’s not

The way it works.
Because it is destiny
Over which you
Have no control.

Don't Wait

A hungry infant
Cries
And makes his presence felt
Reaching
For the mother’s
Breast
For nourishment.

People
Can’t read minds,
So express
Your needs.

Don’t wait
For others
To anticipate
While
You feel piqued.

Courage

On hearing cries
For help

A passer by
Is horrified

To see
That a boat
Had capsized

In a flash
He jumps
Into the lake
To save their lives

What …if he had paused?

Acts of courage
Are not weighed
Or premeditated.

Abode of Gods...

Sun filtering warmth
Through Silver Oak trees,
As I lay
Resting my head
Against
The trunk….

Only sound
Of Holy Ganges,
Gurgling in the vicinity…
Birds paying
Homage quietly
From the top of tree…
In God’s abode,

Fear

Suddenly awake
At midnight,
Soaked in sweat.

Bracing myself
Up for a fight

As in the morning
I have to go
Under the surgeon’s knife.

And if I come
Out of it alive,
I am filled with fear

What if he leaves
An instrument behind?

On the horizon
I watch Sun rise;
Now tangerine,
In the blink of an eye
It turns
Colour of corn kernels.

Conjures up
Image
Of fruit juice:
What better way
To start the day
With a glass in the morning
Along with milk and
Corn flakes…

Relationships

Relationships are fragile,
A careless word is enough to kill
What took years to build.
To win the trust again
Is an act of will.

Once you make huge withdrawals,
From an emotional bank account,
You have to make huge deposits
To break the walls.

A Way of Life

on a pilgrimage,
to pay homage,
devout come to take a dip
despite the chill
to wash off their sins...

at the bank of Ganges,
chanting mantras
recited by the sages...

looking solemn
and serene
unmindfully, going
back to the same
old routine...

Chasing a Butterfly

A state of happiness
Is like a beautiful flitting butterfly
Difficult to chase and hold

I wish time would stand still,
And that moment of bliss
Could last to to an eternity

But that is
Against the law of nature
So I enjoy that moment of being.
