Beauty of the Buffalo
Have you ever been up very close
To an animal so extremely large
That you feel quite insignificant
You know you are not in charge?
But you find the beauty of this animal
Is overwhelming to the core
You want to stay there forever
It seems that it is what cameras are for.
That’s how it was for me, my friend
It was in Yellowstone Park that I saw
The Buffalo very close to me
I know that this animal is a major draw.
The Buffalo’s head was simply enormous
And captivating was the face
If only I could have felt secure enough
To get out of my car for a quick embrace.

The Elephant Bar
I have a simple question to ask you
Have you ever been to an Elephant bar?
Oh, you must, because it’s so quaint
One of my favorite restaurants so far
Why, everyone loves the Elephant
The statues in this place are so neat
And the food, oh such food they have
Each morsel is a scrumptious treat
I’ll tell you more about the food
Delicious in both taste and sight
Elephant size portions they advertise
They create meals that are perfectly right
Chicken salad that’s so good for you
They create the perfect blend of flavors
I always eat mine so slowly
Because it’s food that I truly savor

Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre
It was a mystery right from the first
A murder had occurred you understand
It happened right in the Bissell mansion
A sight that is beautiful and grand
Everyone looked at one another
For who was the one to suspect?
Was he or she right beside us?
Nervousness was what we started to get
We ate our four-course dinner together
As though nothing had gone astray
The food was truly exceptional
And we didn’t have a single delay
But someone had killed our hero, Andy
And it couldn’t just be dismissed
Oh yes, we all loved this wonderful sheriff
He would definitely be forever missed

Old School Memories
I guess we all have old memories
Way back when we were in school
We tried our best to get passing grades
To prove to our folks we weren’t a fool
Remember those old-fashion desks?
There was an ink well right at the top
Some boys didn’t last too long at school
For they stayed home to pick the crops
Long walks home right after school
The stack of books made a heavy load
Kicking rocks but hurrying along
Down that dusty red dirt road
After all, there were always chores to do
Once a kid got back home
Gather the eggs and slop the hogs
Didn’t have a lot of time to roam

Czech Parade Horses
Many folks set proudly in costume
Upon their handsome horse
Putting us into another century
It’s the Czech parade, of course
A deep chocolate brown
A Palomino all golden and tall
Paints as well were collected
And, folks, that’s not even all
They all stood for the camera
Decorated brightly too
Like jewelry on a model
Spruced up for me and you
A white horse standing proudly
But he never would have reared
He matched his owner delightfully
Who had a great snow white beard

Snake Dinner
A snake dinner anyone?
Now, don’t go shakin’ your head
You just might really like it
Not necessarily something to dread
I’ve heard snake is delicious
And there are lots that you can do
To spark and spruce it right up
Whatever works for you
Pour on catsup perhaps?
Or a little bit of red wine?
Mustard or hot sauce?
Whatever you like is fine
Maybe braised or broiled
Or sautéed right in a pan
Add veggies perhaps for stew
Whatever you have on hand

Buffalo Watching
Have you ever gone Buffalo watching?
Oh, I have and it’s just the greatest thing
Especially if you’re right out in the open
It’s nice if it’s summer or late spring
The babies are so adorable too
Staying right close to their moms
There is no animal that is as beautiful
With such class and wonderful charm
Their massive heads are the part
Of this amazing animal I love most
If you wander into their world
I’m sure they’d be the perfect host
But be careful, folks if you get out
Of the vehicle that you’re riding in
If that huge animal gets ahold of you
You would really go for a spin

How Things Used to Be
The older I get the more I think
About how things used to be
It’s almost like another life
That’s what it seems to me
We raised chickens every year
And I loved to gather eggs
Starting with a box of chicks
Watching them till adult stage
Creative games children played
No technology like these days
Monopoly and hide n go seek
Yes, they were sure the craze
My mom was there every single day
After school when we came home
A healthy snack and homework
We weren’t allowed to roam

A Zebra Visit
f you’ve ever had a visit with a Zebra
It’s an animal that stands on its own
For there is nothing at all quite like it
As it nestles inside of its home
The markings are each one unique
For there are never two of the same
Although usually wild in other countries
They can sometimes be nice and quite tame
I was privileged to visit this huge barn
Where Clydesdales have their stalls
But imagine a Zebra in the midst
Standing so beautiful and so tall
Horses and Zebra’s are not exactly alike
And sizes can be very different too
The markings are so fascinating
Some seem to sit rather askew

The Whispering Wind
Don’t you love the sound of the wind
As it whispers through the trees?
A delicate swish some times
And at others it’s quite a furious breeze
We need it to pollinate plants and such
What would we do without wind?
Picking up seeds and pollen
And off to unknown places it sends
It cools things down when it’s stifling hot
Blows the dust off of dirty ‘ole things
There’s a refreshing cool breeze off the ocean
Ah yes, many wonderful things the wind brings
And then there’s the amazing sport
That needs wind in order to send
Balloons flying up into the sky
In order for them to transcend
