The sun’s shining bright
The clothesline is full
It makes me feel happy

Christmas Lights
Thanksgiving is now over
And holidays take another turn
We drag out those Christmas lights
For we all love to see them burn
Don’t you enjoy traditions?
They sure do take us back
Passed down to generations
Like Santa’s Christmas snack
Brilliant lights are everywhere
At home and in the stores
They glisten and they sparkle
While we do our shopping chores
They are even strung across
Busy streets in town
Music blends in everywhere

Close To Heaven
Nothing seems closer to heaven
Than a beautiful sweet sunset
The touch of God’s sturdy hand
Seems as close as you can get
A pallet of subtle colors
Sometimes streak across the sky
Or brilliant vibrant shades
As you kiss the day goodbye
I think God is looking down
Smiling at what he’s created
And you know that He is proud
As His splendor is clearly stated
And the reflection in the water
Is like a look into our hearts

Red Rock Canyon
Oh, what a gorgeous day it was
To drive around the countryside
Autumn was apparent for certain
As I took an afternoon ride
The red hills were sliced off
As though with a sculpture’s knife
Yes, I had such a relaxing day
Putting aside any possible strife
Golden leaves were falling
Softly through the midst
Of everything cold and fresh

A Cowboy at Heart
There are many kinds of cowboys
I think that this is true
Excitement of a kind they need
Perhaps that describes you
Some cowboys ride a horse
Fields of hay they grow
Daily chores like in the past
Makes their daily world flow
Still others have some wild ways
Their horse travels on wheels
They like to live on the ‘wild side’
Whipping up exciting deals
There are those who love an animal
That is also pretty wild

Yesterday’s Christmas
I guess we all look back
Remember Christmases of old
Photographs refresh our minds
Many stories that have been told
How deep the snow was
When we lived at a certain place
Remembering when we were young
Photos are a way that we can trace
Little children on a snow day
Having fun as snow flakes fall
Wearing boots and mittens
That clutter up the halls
I have many reminiscences

A Red Dirt Windmill
There are so many wonderful things
You’ll see in a red dirt world
Like windmills of all sizes
Their blades just whirl and whirl
The pasturelands are brilliant
As you see cattle roam around
And still you hear the noises
Of a windmill sort of sound
Delightful old country homes
Built many years ago
Surrounded by red dirt roads
They help the world to flow
Wild flowers growing ‘long side
Those ambling roads so red
That I could travel all day long

Delicious Surprise
Another way to enjoy chocolate
Is to mix them with fruits and nuts
Berries you’ll find delectable
With a crunchy nutty touch
Marshmallows too will help
To add a white fluffy feel
When your teeth sink down inside
The sweetness is extremely real
Or a combination of mallows
With say, brilliant red raspberries
Another fruit that blends so good
Are juicy sweet cherries
And then you add the chocolate
Oh yes, what a combination taste
So much to enjoy for us

Art and People Watching
Do you ever go to an art show
And spend much of the time
Looking at the people there
People watching is fun I find
Perhaps the display is outside
There are booths serving food
You can sit and munch away
And get in the art and ‘people’ mood
Or walk around carrying food
And observe as you go
Much like a fair atmosphere
Always a huge people flow
With summer on the way now
More opportunities will arise
To go to art exhibits and observe
For art and people watching is on the rise

A beautiful sunset can always
Put your mind to rest
The colors so extraordinary
They are truly nature’s best
Because they give you the feeling

You become a free spirit

Are startling to the eye
The beauty is simply overwhelming
