When I Was A Tree / Kad Sam Bila Drvo

Dusk beside the willows
I was standing in the light
A sunward hope wrote
Circles of time around my neck

When I was a tree
A deeply rooted curled hope of growth
Knitted a net of the beginning
There was a trunk under a rough core
The hairs drank the water of dawn
Bare boughs nested a prayer

When I was a tree
I was standing still
And all the movements
Were within me
A birds flight around my treetop
An aureole of the sun beyond

The bird stuck in my heart side breast
It’s trying to fly
On a magic key
Flirting with a wisdom snake
Wound within it own spiral

There’s the sky around us
The earth around us
The breath within us
U sudden turmoil
Calling the shades
Back to their body colours

The first said
I’m the pearl
The shell of your silence
I dine
With monsters and sirens and sharks
And your friend the whale of the white

The second said
I’m that wave
You need to carry much higher
To the foam top and back
To your bottom haunt call
As your shores are always
As guilty as charged

The third said
I am the rock
Soil solid mute I swallow
Your booms against your bangs
And your black mountain crashes unsung

The soul’s the square
The square with birds flying down on it
To take away the crumbs of its bread
The square with four corners
Each being turned towards
A stone token in its centre

The square the people keep coming to
To take away the words and their own faces
The square with four corners
Each being turned towards clock beat
In its centre

The square of its own forehead
The mandala of the palm of its hand
With an eye in every single corner
Silently measuring the unknown
The square root of the soul

In all torn arrays the wisdom fell
Ragged and dusty like the roads it took
It sounded apeace like a church and its bell
And the highest steeple that can take a look
Into the sky with never the same clouds
The most secret fourth element of blue
To put the thought into golden moulds
Of a faith and a dream of both me and you

In all torn arrays the wisdom fell
The stones stood still by the burden doors
Perceptions closed divorced heaven from hell
And all tribes rose in ancient folk lores
Into the sky with never the same limits
Reaching beyond a fragile countenance
With numberless marbles in colourful digits
Counting the time of final transcendence

This heart that slept the beauty sleep
And dreamt of daylight drums of joy
This heart that dived abyss too deep

Self centre chiseled in many a form
Partake the centre of the universe
Alone
Stone alone
The griffins grave keepers opening the jaws
Partake shadow in a
Stone
Stone alone
The Sphynx upside down
Clinging to the edges of a smile
Ice frozen on the mysteries
Of centuries Centaur raging at Minotaur
Now laugh all around
Winking cunningly
Gioconda mocking
Drop a glove on the floor
Flirting with death
