Please Don’t Go
I don’t know what else I can do
to stop you going away.
I’ve tried everything I know
to stop you leaving today.
If I knew it would make a difference
I would tie you to your bed,
but you still wouldn’t love me
because you’ve already said.
You have security and endless love
in this home you called your nest,
and now you want to leave all this
for an unsure love at best.
No one could possibly love you more
than the man who wants you here,
and when your new love lets you down
I’ll be here to dry your tears.

Life’s Burden
All my life I have carried people and enormous weights,
and my owner always gets annoyed
when I refuse another step to take.
He curses and shouts, tugs and pulls, and tries to pull me on,
but I wont move in any direction
until the load on my back has gone.
It’s not unknown for him to give me a hefty kick
and when I still refuse to budge,
he lays into me with a stick.
My ways have made me famous and it’s not for being a fool,
the people of the world know me for my obstinacy,
because I’m an ordinary stubborn mule.

Moved On
I’m now living with this woman
and she thinks I am her man.
The fact is I really detest her,
but I’m doing the best I can.
I didn’t actually marry her,
her husband invited me in.
Invited, isn’t exactly the truth,
I took his body from him.
At the moment I’m stuck with her;
without doubt my biggest mistake,
and if I now leave his body
it’ll be left in a lifeless state.
I’m taking a ferry ride tomorrow
and plan to take on a new look.
I think it’ll be a single female again;
an improvement on the last man I took.

I'll See You Everyday
There's not a day that passes
when I don't shed a tear for you.
A tear for the happy memories
and a tear for the sad ones too.
I try to hold back the tears
when I see the smile on your beautiful face,
but then I see the pain you suffered,
and a tear is no disgrace.
It seems like only yesterday
that I kissed you and said goodbye,
but I see you everyday of my life,
and it still makes me cry.
The time of parting isn't the end,
and it won't be until I've passed away,
but until that separation finally comes,
I'll see you everyday.

Reversal Of Time
When I awoke from my sleep this morning
I couldn’t believe my eyes
The hands of the clock next to my bed
were racing anti-clockwise.
I got out of my bed to the window
and opened the curtains wide,
the world outside was reversing
before my astonished eyes.
I was fascinated by what was happening
and found myself by a tree,
everything was rapidly changing,
but I was still as I should be.
Day and night flashed by in a second,
the beginning of time was near.
Darkness filled everywhere around me
until the alarm made everything clear.

Shining Star
How bright you are since you joined me on Earth as my shining star.
From that day when you were first just a twinkle in my eye
I knew then that you would send your beams of life out so very far,
and now you touch the whole universe without having to try.
With you my body and soul is overflowing with pure sublime delight.
I could never have dreamed this emotion if I had lived to the end of time.
For one so small to give so much, with only a smile and eyes so bright
I will try to give back what you have given me, oh daughter of mine.

Thank You For Being There - (Saved)
When hopelessness
was too much for me.
You shone your light
and made me see.
You gave me eyes
to see my way
through adversity,
day by day.
You blessed me with
the will to carry on
when my inner strength
had gone.
You filled me with love
when I had emptiness,
but now I can show
and share my happiness.

Bored with TV
Bennie bought a baby crocodile
and took it home in a carrier bag.
He let it roam about the house,
but the crocodile made him sad.
When they watched T.V. together
tears fell from the crocodile’s eyes.
He thought his friend was unhappy
and this made poor Bennie cry.
He carried it to the vet’s clinic
and told them about his fears.
They told him that it was natural
for crocodiles to shed tears.
Feeling relieved and much happier
they sat to watch T.V. again.
The crocodile went to the bathroom
and flushed himself down the drain.

Sensations
Am I wrong to suppose
you’ve yet to experience
the fresh morning dew
between your toes.
The attempt to retain
a handful of sand,
but with no success,
lose every grain.
Recognising a smell
that triggers a memory
to a time in your life
you remember well.
After several years
of not seeing a friend
They enter your thoughts,
then suddenly appear.

A Perfect Day
Through a field of early summer grass
we walked holding hands,
stopping only to smile and kiss;
love was easy to understand.
We talked of our love for each other
on this perfect warm sunny day.
It was as if we were in another world
and life was beautiful this way.
We laughed and aimlessly wandered
then stopped, and passionately kissed.
A deep feeling of desire came upon us
and we didn’t want to resist.
A carpet of untouched grass beckoned,
the most perfect place to be found.
Away from watchers and prying eyes
we made naked love on the ground.
