Danger's Wedge
I never used to let my actions bother me,
everyday my life was lived on the edge.
The adrenaline rush I got from taking risks
was pushed ever wider by danger's wedge.
I now wonder what's happening to me,
I've developed a fear of death.
I panic and tremble when there's no risk,
and an inhaler aids my breath.
Fear and conscience now reside in me,
along with demons I never knew.
What I confront now is far, far, worse
than what I was accustomed to.
I question myself about my past
and how I entered hell's front door.
I think that danger was the drug
of which I had to score.

Moving Music
Certain pieces of music and certain songs do something extraordinary to me,
they get inside my head and overwhelm me so magically.
The instant I hear their introduction I stop whatever I'm doing and listen,
I become transfixed and taken to higher plain within this dimension.
I overflow with euphoria, so much so, my eyes are awash with tears,
I couldn't get any closer to acoustic paradise, and it's been like this for years.
What also makes this so wonderful is that new works are happening all the time,
and when I first hear them I rate them as the others, moving music, sublime

As You Know
For quite sometime
I haven't felt right.
I've been feeling disjointed,
screwed up and uptight.
But then you spoke
with a look in your eye,
it was then that I knew
you'd been living a lie.
Whilst we made love
the truth was hidden away.
You just went through the motions,
and you didn't say.
When I think back
it's been like this for a while,
you've a cowardly deceiver
with a lying smile.

I Hope
I hope when I take my final breath
it will be in my dreams.
In the country places I used to go,
the woods, meadows and streams.
The summer day is bright and sunny
a light warm breeze cuts the air.
Rippling water echoes against the river bank
as it flows over rocks and long green hair.
I see my parents are sitting close by
on a blanket by the riverside.
My sister and brothers play in the shallows
splashing, and chanting nursery rhymes.
My daughter and sons are also there,
and my grandchildren too.
Everything is like a bygone Sunday afternoon,
so peaceful a memory to take with you.

I’m A Man
Please don’t try to change me
I am the way that I am.
I’ve always been this way
I’m a full blooded man.
My mother was my master
and my father was my friend.
My brother was a scoundrel
but he’d never condescend.
I’ve climbed the highest mountains
and sailed the seven seas.
I’ve walked from France to China,
but still said thanks and please.
I respect the wise and aged
and listen to what people say.
I treat women with courtesy
and pray to God everyday.

An Apology Prayer
My Dear Lord above I’m sorry
that I haven’t been giving you the time I should
and it seems that the only time I speak to you
is when I have a crisis, or I don’t feel so good.
You often give me help and consolation,
and when you do I give thanks straight away,
but when my life is without ills and troubles
my conscience tells me I should still thank you everyday.
So Dear Lord I will try harder to find the time to pray to you
and give thanks for all the days that pass.
So thank you Lord God above for giving me this
and all my days, and I’ll pray as though it’s my last.

A Fishy Tale
A Japanese gentleman in Tokyo
kept koi carp in an outdoor pond.
They all had beautiful colourings
and they grew to be incredibly long.
At sunrise one Monday morning
he noticed something quite odd.
Two of the fish appeared to be different
and were kissing by a leafy pod.
At first he couldn’t believe what he was seeing,
but both had a human face.
They were blowing bubbles as they were talking
and what they said was out of place.
They spoke of their dreams and aspirations,
and a new life in a larger pond.
The very next day the land became flooded,
as though someone waved a magic wand.

Only Dreaming
I was quietly walking by the river
when a crocodile ran out on me.
It knocked me over with its tail,
and ate my foot before I got free.
I didn’t get far before it caught me
and bit off my legs below the knees.
Still I tried my best to crawl away,
but it chewed off my arm with ease.
I was feeling rather down hearted,
as it twisted off my other arm.
It backed up and pulled me into the river
where it was impossible to stay calm.
With determination I fought in the water,
as it twisted me around and around,
but then I felt my body and head separate,
so I guess I must’ve drowned.

Doubt Makes A Lousy Foundation.
If my doubts made way
for true love today.
Would you love me more
than you did before?
Would the sweetness of your kiss
be more difficult to resist,
and the passion you create
be better to contemplate?
Would your touch and caress
improve on my contentedness?
And your thoughtfulness and care
make me any more aware?
Would your technique in our love play
improve with every passing day?
Could there be even better times to come
than those we built our memories on?

The Baggage Of Love
I'm glad she can't see my tears
in this pouring rain,
or see the hurt I'm feeling
time and time again.
But I guess that she knows it
and enjoys stringing me along.
My self respect went long ago
and she always picks the song.
Okay, she treats me mean and bad
and uses me all the time,
but what can a guy like me do,
I know that love is blind.
She has no regrets for two timing
and she lays it as it is on me.
It hurts so bad when she does this,
who needs a commentary.
