No Looking Back
You sighed and gasped, and held your breath,
as you turned the pages of your book.
You lived each chapter as you lived your life
and never once back tracked for a second look.

Innocence
Innocence is a God given gift to every child,
as such it walks hand in hand with ignorance.
Until it is destroyed by the corrupt and possessive
who know that innocence has no resistance.

As Children
On Sundays mother sent us to Sunday school
at the huge St Osmund’s church.
My brother said he’d look after our collection money,
but he always ran off, leaving sis and me in the lurch.

Love Assumed
Because I do not say
that I love you everyday
doesn’t mean my love
for you has gone away.
It’s hidden behind a veil
of comfort and content.
A resting beating heart,
full of passion and strength.

An Ocean of Heartache
No matter how much I try
I can’t stop loving you.
You said it had to end,
but what am I to do?
I feel empty and abandoned,
cut loose without a care.
Floating in an ocean of heartache,
with emptiness everywhere.

Mitchell (5)
You came into our world
and created a space.
You spoke without speaking
with the expressions on your face.
In your inimitable way
you touched all that you met
with your frowns and smiles.
How could anyone forget?

Found A Lost Smile
At this time of sadness
life may not seem worth while,
but from our deepest sorrow
will appear a sudden smile.
The smile is the beginning
of something different and new,
it will never be as it was,
but it will get you through.

At A Loss
Once more I awake without you
at the start of another day.
I wonder if life will be easier
than it was yesterday.
My pain doesn’t get better,
I hurt because I miss you.
I know that sounds selfish,
but I don’t know what else to do.

Live in Hope
Green eyes and long red hair,
pale skin and a freckled face.
A huge smile and infectious laugh,
and lips that I’d love to taste.
Deep breaths and racing heart
excite me when she’s near.
Perhaps if she looked my way
she may realise I’m here.

Silent Music
Palm branches moving in the afternoon breeze,
rhythmically dancing with the other trees.
Swaying here and there with a tropical flair
to melodic music that isn’t there.
They sense Mother Nature’s inspiring touch
and display their thanks by moving thus.
