For You

I would battle the wind and rain,
and suffer torment and pain,
just to hold you once again in my arms.
I would trip, stumble, and fall
down mountain or waterfall,
just to hold you once again in my arms.
I would beg, steal or borrow,
fight adversity and sorrow,
just to hold you once again in my arms.
So if I sometimes seem sad and down,
and I'm wearing a tired frown,
just hold me once again in your arms.

I Sensed That You Were There

I was sitting at the restaurant table
when I sensed that you were there.
I looked up to see you approaching
and you passed with an elegant air.

I didn't just sense your beauty
or catch the aroma of your perfume.
Your spirit reached out and touched me,
as you walked across the room.

I suppose I could ask the question,
why did your spirit choose me?
Or does your spirit touch everyone
who's in your vicinity?

Strangers (Prelude to Valentine’s Day)

There’s something in your heart
that’s keeping us apart.
I guess it’s because we’re strangers.

This coming Valentines day
would be the perfect way
for us to be more, than strangers.

I’ll write enchanting words of romance
in the hope there will be a chance,
that we’ll no longer be, strangers.

We can get to know each other
and who knows, later maybe lovers,
and forget that we were once strangers.

Annoyed and Guilty

When I was waking up from my night's sleep this morning
I had an overwhelming feeling of anxiety and dismay.
Earlier I'd been dreaming about my youngest son Mitchell
and how we used to connect, laugh and play.

I felt annoyed and guilty because I hadn't seen him for ages,
so I began to plan a visit for later in the day,
but then I realised that a visit was impossible,
it's been 44 months since he passed away.

The Moon’s Betrayal

At night the branches and leaves of the nearby trees
cast shadows upon the window blinds.
When the moon tells the wind of their state of rest
they’re changed into creatures of a haunting kind.

They tap on the glass as though they want to come in,
then go away for a moment, and then return again.
After a while the wind takes a rest and ceases to blow,
but the creatures are still there, and they refuse to go.

This Morning

When I awoke this morning
a white dove was sat on my bed.
I wondered if I was seeing things,
so rubbed my eyes and shook my head.

It opened its wings and fluttered
and grew much larger in size.
Its face changed to that of a human,
with blonde hair and blue eyes.

I immediately thought it an angel,
but dismissed it as a visual lie.
“Seeing was believing, ” it whispered,
then changed into a blue bottle fly.

O Lord Above

O lord above you fill my all with love,
and lift my heart so high.
O Lord above you fill my life with love
I’m so happy I could cry.

O lord above you blessed me with your love
I try to share it everyday.
O lord above I’ll never betray your love
and I’ll give thanks, as I pray.

O lord above thank you for showing me love
you inspire all that I do.
O lord above you are so much pure love
Hallelujah! I love you.

Loves

I once loved skimming stones across the water
and counting the times they touched.
Carving faces of my friends in driftwood,
from early morning until dusk.

Now I’m older I watch ducks on water,
and the way they dip and dive,
and how flocks of irascible seagulls
make a deserted sky come alive.

But most of all I love watching you,
as you sleep, or wide awake.
Your ever sparkling smiling eyes,
and every breath you take.

A Kingdom For A Queen

Once again we’re not prepared for the flying out brigade;
large black female ants seeking kingdoms to be made.
Being slow and laborious they lazily stumble around,
some managing to catch a breeze and leave the ground.

Many have to scale up high to launch off into flight
instinctively seeking to be queens in their own right,
but for those countless many who fail in their quest
they will become protein for the good of the rest.

Heartbreak Spirit

I’m putting another gin in that chasm
where my heart used to be,
and another is going into that desert
that used to be a tear dropp sea.

The anguish and torment I’m feeling
is about to be sodden with gin.
My memories will sink as an anchor
to the abyss of my mind’s garbage bin.

I’m going to drown my intuition,
so it can’t be used again.
My emotions will also be swamped.
Yes, I’ll be rat arsed, but free from pain.
