An Argument For Love

Why should men fall in love, not gain in it?
For want of apt expressions, then why this?
Men should win, not fall, this, I submit;
Love is not curse, but rather, one of bliss.
The stir in hearts of those involved,
Is caused not, by the love that, there, would roost,
But rightly so, by its absence, unsolved,
Anxiety, that soon, it might be lost;
Lovers are piers, and love, the bridge between,
And this, I think, is love's foremost precept,
Between these ends, true love must spread even,
There is no bridge, if one pier won't accept;
...What love is there, when just one heart has raved?
...So, till both do, have your affections, waived.

Child Of The Road

Once on a rock beside a road
I sat watching the passers by
When one among them showed
To look back with a questing eye

He was a child, not more than three
Tagging along a dog behind
But once they rounded out a tree
The two, I no longer could find

That child, I thought, could once be me
Of many roads way back in time
Hopping along a preset way
As would a scripted playful mime

Life then was Spring, without the cares
The wilds with birds we hunted down
Me and my father put up snares
All conservation was our own

Love Sonnet 22 How soon Persephone would say goodbye,

How soon Persephone would say goodbye,
And leave her mantle, white upon the ground?
My heart seeks not to know, nor reasons why,
But makes the most while she is still around;
How soon will friendly stars all disappear,
When all their glow, would I then start to miss,
How soon until Goodnights would cease to hear,
Your sighs which dignify a stolen kiss;
When dreams wither in nights that last too long,
When pale nightscapes are oft devoid of moon,
When songbirds roost unheard, wanting a song,
Till trees undress for sleep, that is how soon;
......Could Cronus modify Springtime to last?
......Though he seems just a figment of the past?

Love Sonnet 46 My Love Sent Me A Song So Soft and Sweet

My love sent me a song so soft and sweet,
Like melody that lulls babies to sleep,
Hinting of angels in their dreams to meet,
Assured in cradle of a mother's keep;
Like breeze that wafts, each note would float about,
Amid the scents pervading forest glades,
Where sun would smile to flowers in its route,
And moon peeps through when night has drawn its shades;
In countless sighs, my heart recalls her touch,
Conveyed by lilting keys and crescendo drops,
Distance lessens the feeling by so much,
At least, never before the singing stops;
.....The song, now in my heart, constantly plays,
.....As long as dreams are dreams, therein it stays.

Love Sonnet 04: I Hear Violins, Playing In Your Voice

I hear violins, playing in your voice,
Each note lilting, sublime in every word,
Should other songs allure, you know my choice:
Your symphonies, which I might not afford;
I feel freest when confined in your arms,
The world departs the moment that you come,
My chains break loose, as I'm bound to your charms,
Pain haunts no more, for now I feel so numb;
But can I know, since when I'd been this way?
Did clocks behave, as if you were not near?
How many heartbeats constitute a day?
Your pulse, I've felt, though no chimes I could hear;
.......The hours went by, and so did times with you,
.......Our memories I'll keep, to hide from view.

Love Sonnet 148 I Did Once Boast That Thousand Spears

I did once boast that thousand spears can't pierce,
This agile heart that flaunts its loveless bliss,
But now, as change infers, you did coerce,
Confused, by language of your touch and kiss:
Naive to deem, that speechless, I'd say more,
My chances drifted downstream with my luck;
A coward, I twice died before your door,
But thanks, the way towards is free of muck:
Yet soon, you became scarce, leaving no clues,
That left me gazing at a moonless sky;
Bring back my dawn, with all its vibrant hues,
Show me the sunset, and the reason why:
.......Winter coming, in ripeness it would bring,
.......Would easily surpass the joys of spring.

Love Sonnet 18 Humanity that floods the cobbled street,

Humanity that floods the cobbled street,
Engulfs me to be dragged along with throngs,
Lost among strangers, or what else to meet,
In dearth of friends, my agony prolongs;
As faces pass, like flowers on array,
They burst to colors, each of striking hues,
Exuding scents that in the air would stay,
In mixed fragrance to whose strangeness accrues;
But as my thoughts dwell on your love so fair,
The strangest place torments me all in vain,
Detained to thirst, and yet freed from that lair,
For this crag, seemed that skies portend of rain;
.....When soon the flood of faces would subside,
.....Hope we endure, to take all these in stride.

O Rose Hear These

O Rose, within your folds, you did allow,
Now, that sleeky worm fathomed what you are,
Should sweetly fruits, to you, it would avow,
Know that their juices sour to vinegar;
And mark, that joy often proceeds from pain,
And cups that overflow, would waste the wine,
And gardens grow, with sunshine as with rain,
And most water, the world contains, is brine;
So, when your withered eyes are set to weep,
Weep not, for fact, that all your days are spent,
Rather, rejoice for moments all may keep,
For memories, only in dreams are sent;
......Should mortals ask, why glad though life is brief,
......Say that a brief life got no space for grief.

Love Sonnet 151 I Knew Not Why Roses Take To The Rain

I knew not why roses take to the rain,
Nor why, with too much, they oft wilt then die,
So with this heart, as regards rain and pain,
The same as when I cried, not knowing why;
But why when noonday comes, stars could not shine,
And why do moonshine melts hearts in its glow,
The same as when, one willing night was mine,
Whereby moments rushed, yet Time did not flow;
But why God added one pain to His work,
When without which, Paradise seemed not well,
And which turn is best, when road breaks in fork,
How will I know which gives Heaven or Hell;
...Ah, riddles of the heart, crying out loud,
...For answers to rain, without hint of cloud.

When Men Would Pride

When men would pride, on knowledge that they got,
Claiming deftness, to other wits they fret,
The norms of decency, seems, they forgot,
Guile found their minds, with empty space, to let.

The august halls of wisdom teem with wit,
The wise would find, yet keep looking, no less,
But fools, may search, and so finding, would quit,
Then preach the credo of begottedness.

A tree is stoned, not for its faults, but figs,
Or when beneath its boughs, the truth shelters,
Hosannah makes, for sense of height it rigs,
Even as false gods draw idolaters.

Men would speak, and well, of things they know of,
And just as well, speak from the dearth thereof.
