Too little, too late.....

Too little is what you gave,
too late it was, thought I,
when love fazed out and in,
my eyes began to cry,
oh how my poor heart ached,
my brain did catch up too
I'd had enough of not enough
and I'd had enough of you.

The 'Memo Pause

I went into the other room
and stood still at the door
forgetting oh so double quick
what I'd gone there for!

I went back to my comfy chair
and scratched my itchy chin,
remembering what I'd forgot,
too spent to go back in!

Plastic

She was a natural beauty
until they enhanced her,
put plastic in her,
fillers and tucks.

Now her lips are numb,
her breasts, lumpy,
her cheeks
puffy.

She was a pretty child,
now she's damaged,
doesn't go out
hides in the shadows.

No Confession

How can I tell you all I have done,
without you judging
or poking fun?

How can I lay my fragile soul bare,
in hope you'll forgive,
in hope you'll still care.

How can I tell you, answer me, do
or tell me your secrets
so I may judge you.

Taking punishment

As the ruler struck
her knuckles
she bit her lip

He was dark,
tight lipped
with a stern
expression.

One last strike
and her blood
trickled to the floor.

She grinned
for grinning
is the same as scoffing

and giggling
as good as tears......

Flagging

The flag hangs limply now,
its better days blowing behind it,
it's colours fading.

I remember when its vibrancy
shone like the sunshine
as it billowed softly.

The flag hangs limply now,
behind me, just like my dreams
and I cannot touch tomorrow.

Piggy

I loved a pig,
a pig I loved
and served me right
a pig he was.

He told me lies,
he let me down
and so I took
my pig to town.

I sold him
for a silly price
I didn't care
he wasn't nice.

Of pork and ham
Now I am free
I'm off to find
some beef for tea.

I'm not in love……with love.

I'm really not opposed to love
but bored by the odes to love
stressed more by the test of love
and harried by the thoughts of love
for though love makes the world revolve
and brings us all together
there's none so boring or so dull
as other folks love letters.

Lighting the shadows

He stood in the shadows
of a broken home.
His eyes dull,
his demeanour solemn.
Clarity evaded him
his problems
were blinding
until one day
she came along
and suddenly
he could see
that where shadows fall
there is always light
or there would be
no shadows.
