The Devil's Grin
You sit there in your politician suit
thinking of more ways just to take
with the devil's grin
and your hands buried deep in sin
you steal everything from us
with the promise's you make
While our people bleed
in a broken society
from hunger, despair, and poverty
you fill your hearts with greed
then wonder why we don't trust
You push us aside
treat us as if we came to your land
and took everything from you
though we tried to forgive
still you show no respect for our kind

I see how you been hurting
you felt the pain a time or two
that these wounds were hard to heal
they seem to have cut you deep

My life is played upon a stage
like a singer is to a song
with every tune I sing of mine

She was the one and only indian girl
all that was left in her tribe
she gave so much in her world

all were left for dead

and a heart made of stone
drowning me in tears
of a love that never was to be

to the woods of Michigan
through the desert of New Mexico
under the neon lights of Arizona
down past Tennesee
to the ocean of Florida
