Persistent Poet
My first attempts at writing
were definitely feeble and crap,
but I stuck at it, and kept on going
despite the critics on my back.
I’ve become a poet of all seasons
and I’ve blossomed through the years.
My poetry raises many comments
and even brings critical tears.
Not because they’re good or emotional,
or poignant, or written with skill.
It’s because I’m a sucker for punishment
and my persistence makes people ill.

I'll Wait For You
When I finally die I'll wait for you
in the place that follows death.
As a lonely spirit I'll patiently wait
until you take your final breath.
Whilst we're apart I'll watch over you,
as an angel on your shoulder.
I'll protect you from all things evil
until it's time for you to cross over.
Don't be concerned you won't see me,
you won't even know I'm in the air.
These times will be so difficult for me
without being able to show I care.

The Anguish Of The Poet
It appears he's tormented by a question
like a word hidden on a printed sheet.
He's definitely not with us, he's elsewhere,
and he's not getting too much sleep.
He's lost in a maze of contradiction
and is severely being put to the test.
He's delving into the darkest chasms
of his memory's hidden treasure chest.
He says persistence will find the answer,
and it was just a matter of time.
This wasn't a case of straight forward logic
and the answer lay deep in his mind.

Deceived
I'm not crying for what you've just done,
I'm crying because you've taken away
the foundations I've been building on.
You led me up the winding steps so high,
what a fool I was to believe in you
and your castles in the sky.
Promises then excuses, I believed everyone,
but now I see through your transparencies,
there's no point in us carrying on.
Why did you have to cause so much pain?
Just get out of my life you waste of time,
and don't ever bother me again.

A Rag Man's Trumpet
A mutual friend has told me
that you're a tow rag now,
and that you've already
broken your marriage vows.
You've been screwing around
without a thought or care
and leaving your scum
just about anywhere.
You told me she was the one
and then chucked me in.
You hurt me so bad,
I couldn't stop crying.
Since then I've found out
just what you are.
A toe rag and scum bag
that drives a red car.

The Recipe
To the basic mix add
a brain and a mind.
The ability to think
and the gift of being kind.
Add all the human senses,
and don't forget a voice.
A smile and sense of humour
depending on your choice.
A conscience for guidance,
in deciding right or wrong.
Feelings to stir emotions,
which could be put to song.
A soul to comfort the body.
a spirit to create and inspire.
A character to rely on
when times appear dire.

Biological Valve
One of the most taken for granted parts of our body is the anus in our bottom,
and yet there is hardly a day goes by when it has a chance to be forgotten.
A well-designed and created outlet valve for the release of gases and debris
how thankful we are that we have one to let these products go free.
If your anus doesn't open and you have pain because of it,
or it doesn't stay closed long enough and you wish it had a zip.
Just be grateful that you've got one and that it's working okay
and when musical or pungent wind escapes be happy it got away.

Screw Loose Charlie
Hey there 'Screw Loose Charlie'
how did you get that name?
It's said that one day you lost 'it',
when you went completely insane.
They said the pressure got to you
and you just blew your top.
You were like a human hurricane
and knew not when to stop.
The air turned blue with obscenities,
as you trashed everything in sight.
Your rage was relentless and unstoppable,
as your adrenalin pumped with might.
But then you stopped in a heartbeat
and sat with your head in your hands.
You whispered an embarrassed apology,
and everyone seemed to understand.

Danger's Wedge
I never used to let my actions bother me,
everyday my life was lived on the edge.
The adrenaline rush I got from taking risks
was pushed ever wider by danger's wedge.
I now wonder what's happening to me,
I've developed a fear of death.
I panic and tremble when there's no risk,
and an inhaler aids my breath.
Fear and conscience now reside in me,
along with demons I never knew.
What I confront now is far, far, worse
than what I was accustomed to.
I question myself about my past
and how I entered hell's front door.
I think that danger was the drug
of which I had to score.

Well
'Well' is the most used word in your vocabulary.
'Well' is the word you use to give you the last one.
'Well' is the word when you're losing an argument.
'Well' is the word used when talking is done
'Well' gives you time for further consideration.
'Well' gives you chance to later state your case.
'Well' to you is an answer not a question.
'Well' is the word to use in time of haste.
'Well' is the word you use to cause exasperation.
'Well' is used because you can't think on your feet.
'Well' alleviates embarrassment in your slow repartee.
'Well' is the way to halt an argument's defeat.
