Is This Love
It was just another end to another long winter's day until that is, I saw her.
Through all the hustle and bustle she appeared from out of the crowd.
I couldn't for the life of me understand why I was the only one looking at her,
she stood out like a glowing angel in the darkness of the evening cloud.
I had to pinch myself to see if I was actually seeing her and not dreaming.
My mind raced with endless possibilities without coming to any conclusion.
I felt foolish as she came nearer so I looked down to hide my embarrassment,
but then I felt compelled to look up and she cast a smile in my direction.
I didn't know if she really smiled at me so I turned around just to make sure,
no one else seemed to be returning her smile, so I quickly smiled back.
But was she smiling because I was worthy of her ridicule…or was it pity,
or maybe she was amused by my smile when my stony face cracked?
Was my shirt buttoned up wrong, was my trousers tucked into my odd socks?
I looked down at myself to check if my clothing was correct and in place.
What does she see in me to make her smile, perhaps she's only being polite;
and why does her aura glow…she's a lot more than just a pretty face?

Heaven Came To Mind
Whenever I walk this riverside path I can't help but think back,
to when I was fifteen years old… oh what bliss.
In my mind's eye I see myself walking hand in hand with my love
stopping every couple of paces for a passionate kiss.
I can clearly recall that summer as though it was only yesterday,
we decided to sit near to the cornfield to kiss and caress.
The grass was lush and long, and hidden from the path,
silently we lay holding hands, this was togetherness.
The hypnotic sound of the nearby river silenced us as it passed by,
what a beautiful, warm and peaceful day… heaven came to mind.
Just listening to the ripples enriched the happiness in our hearts,
we wanted to remain there together until the end of time.
I could smell her hair and told her that I liked her perfume,
and she said thank you, but it was only the shampoo.
She smiled, and kissed me softly on the lips to express her love,
through the heat of passion we became an inseparable two.

Pretty Boy
Even as a small boy I played the fool,
loved dressing up and going to school.
I was taught piano and acoustic guitar,
and dreamed of being a real rock star.
I was born a pretty boy with golden hair,
my manners and looks got me everywhere.
The older women adored and spoiled me,
and I took advantage of their hospitality.
My nose always bled from the bullies fists,
they didn’t like girlie boys who took a risk.
Besides two black eyes and a bloody nose
looked better on a pretty boy that posed.
The boys that admired me wouldn’t openly say,
that they liked a pretty boy to behave that way.
Deep inside, I knew I was undeniably different,
but I wasn’t a monster born with evil intent.

Wedded Bliss
Your world will get far worse if you are going to use that knife,
have you seriously thought of what you are about to do?
I mean this is stupid, is it the best way to begin a new life?
Your so called friend has filled your head with poisonous lies,
and I've told you many times about their lethal tongue,
but you never listened to me no matter how hard I tried.
It makes no sense to do this just because of what someone says,
you should judge me as you find me,
not on some persons words on another of their fantasy days.
Please put down the knife, do you really want to kill me?
You're obviously upset by what you have been told,
and you've already made up your mind that I'm guilty.
If there is any doubt in your mind that you have been told a lie
put down the knife right now and walk out the door,
that would be the perfect new beginning and just say goodbye.

A Youngman's Decision
The doctor told me I was suffering from hypertension
and I had to calm down and do much less.
Burning the candle at both ends would be a killer,
and my body required a much needed rest.
Working all day and playing all night cannot last,
there's only so much a body can take!
Without recharging the batteries comes exhaustion,
and before long the body will break.
I worked long hours and enjoyed a social life,
adored women and having a ball,
and the only time I had for fun and romance
was at night when inhibitions fall.
My social life was occupied fully by women
at different places on particular nights.
My encounters were usually brief but exciting,
but three remained the lights of my life.

Colleagues
We have been friends for many years
and working colleagues for most of them.
Today we're celebrating a friends promotion
and that happens every now and then.
We found ourselves sitting and talking together
about mutual friends and past events.
She was giving her opinion on a current situation,
and I agreed that she was making good sense.
She then leaned over and whispered quietly,
for the first time I noticed the texture of her skin.
I caught the aroma of her hair and perfume,
and something special was pulling me in.
I never once imagined us in this situation,
she paused as though she felt something too.
She pulled away and looked into my eyes,
and we didn't know what else we should do.
