Gazing At The Sky
As I lie upon my rooftop, gazing at the sky
The only thing my mind will wonder is why, why, why
Why are there no birds soaring through the sky
The only thing my eyes can spy are black bats dashing by, doing the things they do
Why is the Moon so bright tonight
Perhaps to keep me stirring and gaping at the blue
As I lie upon my rooftop, gazing at the sky
Listening to the sounds of the night while time goes slowly by
The night sky is a wonderful thing that will remain until after I die
The night sky is a story written by the stars
Images from long ago come to me from afar
As I lie upon my rooftop, gazing at the sky
I can feel the moisture in the air and though it is cold, I continue to glare
I stare toward the east where the sun is soon to rise
I stare toward the east where the brightest star does lie
And I hear the rustle of the leaves as they dance in the breeze
