Peace

Oh, give me a home
Where there ain't not no home,
And there's peace
In the homestead all day;
Where shall not be heard
Unsolicited word,
And the kids will all do as I say!

Crazy Tradesmen Rhymes No6

I once knew a man in the Conservation trade
Known for the lecturing
Sermons that he made;
He thought he was clever
But between you and me
He couldn't tell a Bat
From a Bumble-Bee.

She's here now

Why does it rain
On the leaves, on the floor;
On the clear window-pane
And all over the door.
Why is the sky
Dark, and heavy today?

She's here now
See now
All is OK.

Little Juvenile Snobs

Little juvenile snobs
Are such terrible things,
They get uppish and don't give two hoots;
So you cut them hard back
Like you do in the spring
To a shrub that's too big for it's roots.

Lazy Boy

He loves to lie in, in the morning i'm told,
Well it's true that he ain't no spring chicken;
Just to open his eyes is an effort of will,
Seems his back, to the bed, won't stop stickin'.

You Could

You could, and you should,
If you did, did you 'dould '
Is this sentence confusing your brain?
If it's not then it's clear
That you're like Edward Lear,
Either that or you're going insane.

Crazy Tradesmen Rhymes No1

I once knew a man in the gardening trade,
Bob Green was his name
He was surly, he was staid;
He thought he knew it all
But between you and me
He couldn't tell a lettuce
From a lilac tree.

Sunday Clock

The old Sunday clock
Was a ticking it's way
With no effort at all
Through a long lazy day.

It stood on the ledge
With so little to say,
But it didn't surprise me:
They're all made that way.

Crazy Tradesmen Rhymes No7

I once knew a 'sparky' in the building trade
Ne'er a thought for his safety
All his mates were afraid;
He thought he knew the business
But between you and me
Before he turned the switches on
Everyone would flee.

Crazy Tradesmen Rhymes No4

I once knew a fellow in the music trade
He was known for the very little
Banjo he played;
His playing was erratic
And between you and me
The reason was the instrument
Kept rolling off his knee.
