My Down Day

When Life dost seem to pass me by,
I look through my window, I look at the sky,
When my body aches and does not work,
There are jobs I must do which I canna shirk.
My pensive mind begins to think,
To take me from depression, from this brink.
For if on paper my thoughts I cast,
I know this depression will not last,
For Life's journey is full of DOWNS and UPS
And to live it fully, for ME is a MUST.

Storm Clouds

Shapes of clouds in the sky
Are seen as pictures by the human eye.
But when the wind does gently blow
Those shapes into other pictures go.
Storm clouds do not pictures make,
But blacken the skies and makes us wake
To listen for thunder and see lightening too,
And hope that without more ado,
The storm will break, the sun appear,
The black clouds will disappear,
And once again the sky’ll go blue
To bring more pictures for me and you.

The 60th Anniversary of D-Day

The Jewish World has much to praise
Those that fought on that Great Day,
To release the World from tyranny great,
Which could have sealed the Jewish Fate,
Had Germany not fallen before
The Allied Armies knocking at their door.

On the beaches of Normandy they fought,
On 6th of June 1944 began that onslaught.
Those courageous men who fought and died,
Remembered by comrades still alive,
On this, the 6th June 2004,
Sixty years after they fought that war.

Therapy

Poetry is a Therapy,
It makes me use my Brain,
During periods of inactivity,
I’d otherwise go insane.

When lack of work overwhelms me,
And I have nought to do,
Rhymes, scans, lines and verses,
Overcome Depression too.

Wisely I use this Therapy,
Constantly I think and write,
Hourly I write in verses,
Whilst I do so, I’ll be alright.

Depression is now a “No-no”
Before it was often there,
The future has all to live for,
As G-D has me constantly in HIS care.

Saffra

Saffra, you must remember,
As older each day you become,
That Life is not only for pleasure,
But work must be made to be fun.

Television, Games and Computers,
Reading, Writing, Music and Art,
Are part of your knowledge process,
And on each day must be a part.

Have Love for your Parents and Family,
Respect for your Teachers and Friends,
Be kind and considerate to others,
And keep your little temper at bay,
Then All will wish to befriend you,
Forever and ever each day.

Unshakeable Faith

My Faith is not unshakeable,
As some of you believe,
But with all my problems in Life,
I must have Faith indeed.

Where would I be without HIM?
What Future would I have?
I know HE'll look out for me,
And for that I must be glad.

Sometimes I have my doubts,
‘Tis Human Nature so to do,
But Hope Springs Eternal,
Have Faith ~ as I do too.

My Faith is not unshakeable,
I have my daily doubts,
When things go wrong I question it,
With ‘Swings and Roundabouts'.

Her B.A. (Hons) In Graphic Design

Words escape my fuddled brain.
Tired I am tonight,
For it has been an exhausting day,
And I’m glad it turned out alright.

For today was my Daughter’s Graduation Day,
From Lord Rix she got her Degree,
A B.A. (Hons) in Graphic Design,
Has brought pride to her family.

Lisa was dressed in Cap and Gown,
For her turn she did wait long,
To shake Lord Rix by the hand,
And be seated amongst the throng.

The University of East London did she attend,
At the Docklands Campus was she,
For just a year did she study there,
To convert a Degree from her H.N.D.

Dave ~ On Your Retirement

Dave has driven our Minibus
Twice weekly to the shops,
And assisted our Residents,
With many little jobs.

For almost fifteen years,
At Cherry Tree Court he's been,
And his pleasant disposition,
By All ~ could be seen.

But now he is Retiring,
This week will be his last Trip,
Taking the Residents shopping,
Helping them ~ lest they slip.

I am a relative Newcomer,
To Cherry Tree in March, I came,
I do not yet need the bus,
~ But, I'll miss him just the same.

My Sixteen Month Sabbatical

My sixteen month sabbatical,
“From what? ” ~ I hear you say.
From writing poetry ~ I tell you,
As another, I write today.

‘twas on 24th February 2009,
I wrote my 500th poem,
And on 24th June 2010,
Ever onwards I am going.

Why can’t I put my pen down
And lead a poem-free Life?
Why must the words flow once again
When rhyme and scan I write?

I struggle with my thoughts now,
No nonsense must I pen,
What is the theme of this one
I ask myself again?

Why Do I Write Poetry?

Why do I write Poetry?
The answer is not plain to see,
As a Legal Cashier I earn my Living,
For me and my family.

Why do I write Poetry?
Thoughts come to me in rhyme and verse,
They have to be worked on continually
To make those lines seem terse.

Why do I write Poetry?
One day HE’ll answer me,
Hopefully while I’m on this Earth,
Before I reach Eternity.

Why do I write Poetry?
Why must my lines scan and rhyme?
Not only on this occasion,
But forever, and all the time.
