Another Poem

The rose wilts,
Petal by petal.
The candle melts
Flicker by flicker.
The human ages
Wrinkle to wrinkle.

At each insult
Hate grows stronger.
But each smile
Makes the devil weaker.

And we thought
We would be together
But we knew it was never forever
Yet we said 'never say never'
But does forever last ever and ever?

The butterfly
Is reduced to dust.

A letter to a Captain

Captain Owen
Did you find your glory?
The glory you left home for
You should have stayed
Stayed safe at home

Captain Owen
I have seen your photographs
The photographs of words
The photographs of death, of war
The same war you died in

You shouldn't have gone
You should have stayed
Stayed safe at home

Captain Owen
You deserved to live
You would've lived if you never went
And yet if you never went

Number 4

Got a phone call today
They said you passed away
You were fine morning
And just yesterday
But now you've got no heartbeat

We have the same name
But I know nothing about you
Just stories, just fame

I didn't cry earlier
Not when I heard
Not a single tear
But now they're here

I had so many chances to visit
Like last year with my cousin
Last month when you were still livin'
But I didn't
I just didn'

A dream

I look at Paulo Coelho's blog
And I see ten's of thousand's of followers
At each word he writes
He gains ever more fans
And I have nothing
Except one or two faithful friends

Oh Allah will I too gain notice?
Will publishers look at my work
And see pure talent?
Will the world read my pieces
And see utter beauty?
Will my name go down
As one of the authors of the century?

Or will this forever be a dream?
Am I foolish
To spend hours writing?
Should I just go to sleep
And let go of my persistent pen?

Watching the seasons

Behind these bars
Children wear thick clothes
Snowflakes land on their noses
They create little snow angels
Snowmen and snowballs
Christmas trees alight
Angels on top of them
It is Winter

Behind these bars
I watch the flowers bloom
Snow melts away
Birds chirping and singing
Lovers hold each other tight
Buds open and grow
Sweet smells conquer the air
It is Spring

Behind these bars
The sun watches over

Look Up To See

The little girl bent her head
She lost her mother today
Lost her to the waters of death
Where her warm hugs cannot reach
But she opens her eyes
Looks up to see
Her little sister wipe away her tears.

The little girl bent her head
She has cried so many tears
Non of them were perfect
And she's tired of the screams
But she opens her eyes
Looks up to see
Her friends welcoming her home.

The little girl bent her head
The scars on her arm, a tell-tale sign
Her sadness she locks away
Hidden in colours on canvas

A Cup Of Tea

That fusion of spices
Lemon grass, what I know as mchaichai
And ginger.
Makes me travel,
To a land far away
Across mountains and seas.

To a land
Where the soil is brown,
Like milk chocolate,
And the beaches white.
Where the people smile not frown.
Stretched out savannah
With animals of all colour,
And a mountain that peaks over Africa
Topped with glittering glaciers.

But as those spices
Bubble in my teacup,
I don't see tourist attractions

My kind of love

Sometimes I want a man
To hold me tight
And kiss me goodnight
Then be gone in the morning
Nowhere in sight
So I can feel loving
Just for a moment

Then I realise I'm better
I won't succumb to desire
Give myself to a liar

I want more than a one night stand
I want someone to hold my hand
Never let go 'til the end
Not just as a girlfriend

To wake me up in the morning
And tell me how beautiful I'm looking
To come back in the evening

God's miracle

Say not
That this is just a game.
As I watch the little boys play
After a heavy school day
He goes straight to the field,
And there he is in his element
Raising up the dust
As he scores that goal.

Say not
That this is just a game.
As the boys make their football
Collecting plastic from the dumps
And cutting ropes that were washing lines.
As the boys create a pitch
Or just play on the road,
They take sticks or stones
And they build a goal.

Say not
