Here's to the father who wasn't there
After all these years
I've always known that you didn't care

I met you once at the park when I was three
You left fast
In a hurry
And abandoned my mom and me

You stopped by my mom's front step
She said, 'Adam's not home from school yet'
'Just tell him I'm dead', dad said

Even though you were never around
I've always known where you are
Stealing, dealing, or behind bars
Why should I allow your absence leave me with scars?

You did your crimes
Served your time
