September 11th will be a day many won’t forget
Unthinkable news were on the television set
That dreadful day changed many lives
Lives of children, parents, husbands and wives

Seven Continents
There are seven continents
Right here on the planet Earth
Each gorgeous in it's own way
Africa
Antarctica
Asia
Australia
Europe
North America
South America
Each precious land has its own culture, customs and traditions
Each continent has different weather conditions
Most beautiful of all, it has people
People, just like you and me
Some are good, some not so good
Let's pray for faith, peace, justice,
good health, food, shelter, unity,
A decent job and prosperous opportunity

Black Raven
My heart is held hostage
Seeking refuge in safe haven
Fallen leaf from the maple foliage
Perching on a branch is a Black Raven
I sit and watch from the windowpane
Sheet of glass so clear and visible
Feeling my heart carrying a ball and chain
For now I am indivisible
In future quest I will relive
Experience again sweet loving tenderness
Companionship and a great friend
By the deep forest’s wilderness

A Tribute to Bill
Young and full of life
You left one morning thinking you would
come back
A dreadful accident caused by a housewife
Now your body rests under a brass plaque
Your kindness and humor
Will always be remembered
May God keep you in Heaven where there is
to ponder
The Angels are blessed to have you as a
member
One day you will meet again
With your loved ones that were left on Earth

Adult Companionship
Adult companionship I seek
Desperately to listen and talk
At least at the end of the week
Strolling on the wooden boardwalk
Day and night I teach and raise kids
Even on weekends in my van
Drive through, fast food, wrappers and lids
Beach day with children and a tan
Mature conversation needed
Over dinner or a smooth ride
Might feel like if we succeeded
Sweet dreams to discuss and confide
By the beach or in a movie
Cheering at a basketball game
Will both feel so very groovy
Who cares if you act wild or tame
Sitting or walking in a park
Making out, hugging – or hold hands
During daylight or when it’s dark

Dream Spot
Icy water and dense fog
Mostly boating – no swimming
Okay to read by the log
Or close your eyes while dreaming
Nice retirement dream spot
In the thick wooded forest
Boasting over fish just caught
Whether richest or poorest
One cold night telling stories
Chewing toasted marshmallows
Right under the galaxies
With rainbows and dark shadows

Sentimental Value
Comes in a pair; glitters, sparkles, shines
They are elegant and valuable
Priceless in more than one way
In addition - light and very comfortable
Sentimental value is evident and clear
No money in the world can replace them
They are a lady's best friend
Precious beauty quite a gem
Pair of diamond earrings; so special to me
One diamond was a gift from my husband
Other diamond was matched by my father
Equally translucent as a tear gland
Both exceptional men are now in Heaven
Dad died nine years ago; soon it will be
Memories from both will last forever

Blue Moon
What will this Blue Moon bring me this
Saturday, July 31,2004?
I can imagine a date with my dogs
Watching Law and Order after closing the
door
Three lively children will also stay in, will
argue and bicker and will eat like hogs
Everyday routine is the map I do follow
My heart at times feels lonely and hollow
Once in a Blue Moon when used as a term
means not very often
More frequently, I need to harden not my heart
and let it soften
The only romance I will see is a second movie
on the television
Raising my children is my first mission
Blue Moons are known to bring romance
So talk and behave amorously let your heart

Adelaida: A Cuban Cinderella

Once upon a time, on the island of Cuba lived two sisters named Adelaida and Marisol. Although identical twins in appearance, their personalities were as different as night and day. Adelaida was noble and loved to help others. She understood that the situation at home was not easy. Their father worked 14 hours a day and their mother was frail and very ill. So Adelaida would wake up very early every morning to cook breakfast and have it ready for her father before he’d go to work. They would eat together while they talked about many different matters.

Adelaida would then prepare a tray for her mother; with love and tenderness she fed her each meal of the day. She also insisted on helping the nurse care for her much-loved mother. She spent time brushing her mami’s hair and would take pleasure in it.

On the other hand, Marisol believed that the world revolved around her. After sleeping until noon, she expected a breakfast menu. From the moment that she stepped out of her bed, she would holler, “Adelaida, bring me my breakfast! ”
Adelaida would serve her sister bacon, eggs, toast, juice, and milk. She would hurry to take the plate to the table and cater to her sister. But Marisol always complained that the food was not hot enough, or the drinks not cold enough. No matter how much Adelaida would try to please her, it never seemed to be enough. Marisol often wanted favors during the very moment that her sister was caring for their mother, and so Adelaida would ignore her sister’s whining and tend to her mother first.

During the long hours of each day Adelaida would sweep the floor, wash, iron, and do the dishes. In between chores, she would hurry each time Marisol rang a bell demanding her services. Marisol would command, “Curl my hair! ” “Wash and iron my clothes! ” “Make my bed! ” “I’m hungry! ” “I want chicken and yellow rice, salad, and custard for dinner! ”
Adelaida would just give in to her sister’s demands to avoid confrontations that would disturb their mother’s peace. Luckily Adelaida had dogs, cats, and birds that adored her and followed her around. Even the mice would come to keep her company and help out. Little Maria the mouse carried the napkin on top of her head to set the table. Sometimes Adelaida and her critters would have fun together carving a giant pumpkin to make pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin custard.

One evening when their father came home from work he called both of his daughters. Adelaida and Marisol both kissed him and listened to what he had to say. With a frown, he mumbled, “My boss is having a dinner at his mansion and he wants our family to attend. Mr. Perez wishes to reward me for being the employee of the year. He also is very proud of his son who just finished his internship and graduated as a doctor. He is coming home just in time for the Christmas holidays and he would like for us to meet him.' In his mind he was thinking, ‘How am I going to get my wife to go? She is so weak and frail.’
