Bo and Michelle

Bo and Michelle
out on the town,
looking as grand as can be.

Smile and shake hands,
making the rounds,
meeting the Queen for tea.

Whats so special about
this Presidency,
see how the crowds adore.

They cling to the dream,
Bo will bring change
for the downtrodden and the poor.

Pep Talk

How dare I
feel sorry for myself?
My trials are so small,
so insignificant
beside the agony
so many others
must survive.
Do not all men struggle?
Already so blessed,
my arrogant, self pity
is the height of
insensitivity.
The time has past
for the luxury of tears.
I must dry my eyes
and live on.

The Search for Peace

Who / Where are you?
One whose words so wise
across divides
can reach,
to fall softly upon
hardened ears.

Gently caressing,
pleasing.
The wisdom that
we seek, so unique,
it will change the world
if we try.

Even change is changing.
The future yet unknown.
Only the hint
of a promise sweet.
Humanity as one.

Alone

She walks alone
head bowed, the air around her
bristles with agitation.
Only the brave or
very foolish, approach.
One... an aquaintance of old
who senses her anguish
reaches out,
Is met with an angry rebuke
then again gently
offers understanding.
Eyes meet...
but the pain is too great,
unable to voice it
she walks on.
Alone.

Daydream

I see it there.
A distant world
still far away, but clear.
The picture grows...

A cleaner world
refreshed by Eco-Revolution,
long left behind the carnage
of human evolution.

Nature rules the planet.
Her's the final power.
Civilizations rise and fall,
she out reigns them all.

Her ancient wisdom and harmony
with us through eternity,
to guide us in our quest
for a paradise on earth.

Candid Camera

Smile,
your on Candid Camera.
All in good fun, we used to say.
But times have changed,
Internet, U tube and cell phone technology
make everyone a filmmaker,
everyone a critic.
Every move you make
part of a digital footprint.

The Internet...
like an open sore when
left untreated... spreads
lies and infection easily.
Old fashioned common sense
and good judgment
not included.
The World looks on,
Judging,
Beware the Candid Camera.

On the Sidewalk

Here I stand on the corner,
holding out my hand.
'Can you spare some change,
for a cold and homeless man? '

But the feet they keep on rushing by,
the eyes avoid the sight.
Afraid of me. No dignity.
A sad and lonely plight.

Look me in the eye.. I'm Human.
I still have my pride.
Though I ask for your compassion,
I search for strength inside.

Strength to struggle onward,
past the hopelessness and shame.
Courage to face the new day,
another chance to try again.

Freedom of Speech?

You can't say that.
It's not politically correct.
If you say that you may offend...
and you will stand accused
of Anti Feminism, Anti Semitism,
Anti Americanism.

The media's gone mad.
Judging every word, every nuance,
letting one little word, 'stupidly'
overshadow the real issue.
Not even the President can
say what he really thinks.

Does anyone remember
Freedom of Speech?
You can say what you believe,
even when we disagree,
it's O.K with me.
I won't call you Anti.

2000 A.d.

I see the people
of the earth.
It's the eve of year 2000.
Time Zone to Time Zone
they welcome the New Year
with music, song and dance.

So many variations
of cultural celebrations.
A sparkling tribute
to the kaleidoscope of man.

Fireworks Extraordinaire
light the sea
of smiling faces.
Satellite to Satellite
the parade of celebration
marches by
through the T.V. camera's eye.

Just

Is it just...
Another form of tyranny
trying to enforce the dream of peace
upon humanity.

Is 'he'* just another Dictator...
attempting to brainwash
the masses with his socialistic
'share the wealth' mentality?

Maybe I am... Just
another old hippie chick,
my sign held high.
But...

I still feel the need to protest
for there are those who see
Liberalism as a disease
to be eradicated.
