The Junkie Next Door
Heroin - just sniff it up.
It's the new 'in' thing to do.
Don't have to feel anything.
It will feel for you.
It's easy to find,
a quick trip to the badlands
will score the fix.
Then the junkie next door

Oceans rise, farmland floods.
Massive waves of
climate migrants moving north.
Tropical diseases and
plague to follow.

hiding distant mountain peaks.
My faithful friend,
through the seasons she waits for me.
With spring breezes she dances
adorned in her new dress
of delicate green growth.
In dog days of summer heat
her sweeping skirts provide
the cool dark shade where birds nest
and fat black squirrels come to hide.
