I Know Not What Else to Do
Crouching under me like a jackal
Creeping towards me like a crab
You sneak around me like a haunt
You crawl your hands around my waist and grab
You draw me into the heat of your arms
But all too quickly it seems
You make me feel like I'm floating without breath
And trapped in a sleepless nightmare of a dream
Trying not to smile when you hit me to the ground
Laughing at my bruises knowing not what else to do
Leaning into all of your punches
Watching myself waste away as I lose myself in you

The 90 Day Return Policy
at night
i hear her
and i hear you with her
and i hear the
movement
the replacement of me
the guiltless exchange
the foolproof return policy
the breath of the night
tries to kiss me to sleep
but i hear her
and i remember
the way you used to
pick me up
in one
sweeping
scoop
and my stomach still buzzes
from where your

Easy Read
So you think you know me
The mystery of my mind
The reason I confess so hesitantly
The equation of my kind
And you think you know this
After one late night conversation
Apparently my insistance is easy to dimiss
You've discovered this after little contemplation
You breeze through my pages
Since I'm such an easy read
You check me out and return me with easy exchanges
As if I'm some useless need
You like the fact I'm rather see-through
My vunerability seems to make you feel in control
But you're blind to my distain for you
A plot in which you'll never have a role

Irony's Bite (A Sonnet)
Dearest friend-your death washes over me
Nineteen days after the unanswered call
I walk through shivering tree's scabby leaves
Chilled with loud whispers of an early fall
I run my fingers over open wounds
Lesioned initials we left on this trunk
Forest floors grow over your steps, ungroomed
Mossy hollows brag where your feet once sunk
And the misty fog teases arid eyes
The rain was your favourite sensation
Guilt consumes withering rays in the sky
Your absence bears a cruel laceration
Blood warms and seeps from ironys sharp bite
Damned-I didn't answer your call that night

Dervishes and Mastery
Oh.
Time has slapped me in the face
The air was thick and settled
A new tick
A slower second
You have mastered time
You have mastered
Me
My.
You've really swept me off my feet.
Haven't let me down to breathe
For weeks.
I'm suffocating
Bury me deeper
Steal my atmosphere
Let me die this way
Heart speeding in a hundred different directions

Open Palms (Kissing You Goodbye)
I've been here so long
That I've forgotten
Where I am
Trapped
Suffocating
Straight-jacketed
Clasped
So tightly
In your hands
Don't get me wrong
These prison walls
Are more lovely than most
And I wouldn't mind
Being held
If it wasn't for the host
You keep me here
With no hope of
Being set free
And if I'll ever
Climb from your

Reign
Pulled in again by reigns unforgiving
Yes, I'm alive but is this what you call living?
It's a centimeter forward only to be jerked back a mile
While I'm expected to sit quiet, listen well, be a more perfect child
The worst kind of control is one you can reclaim
A decedent to your jailer only in name
Wondering through a maze that you know the end to
With the knowledge you're stuck no matter what you do
Is choice with limits really choice at all?
A stumble means nothing if you catch me every time I fall
The tighter you hold me the farther I'll flee
Pulling the bridle from my mouth until I finally control
Me

The Butterfly Is Dieing
After the fall
I am left cold, shivering, a mess
And as the leaves crawl
I am naked in winters cold breath
After the dive
That left me breathless, unspoken
There's nothing left to revive
A heart that used to flutter is broken
After the chase
I lay myself at your feet
Batting my wings against this small cage
Refusing to admit my defeat
After the dusk
I'm curled in what's left of desire
Trying to capture an evaporating lust
Your smile has soured-always the regretful buyer

Scripted Desire
I'm afraid
My expectations for love are too great
That when I finally get a chance
I'll be left disappointed with my circumstance
Love should just let me be
It's luster is diminished
As it makes a fool out of me
No.
Love is for the empty
And naive
The ones who wear their heart on their sleeve
The ones who think to love
And to be loved in return
Is something you can hope to earn

A New Resolution to Conflicts Without Solution
I want people to acknowledge the broken parts
Without moving too close
Afraid they may touch something hurting
Or discover what I hide the most
Exposed
I want them to feel my every emotion
Without detracting from my mind
I want them to tread lightly
But still leave their footprints behind
A letter
Unsigned
I want them to hear my anger
But to forget the angry words I said
To see me as America's sweetheart
And to know that I want to play the rebel instead
Tough and misunderstood
