Ashley Stone

OLd SOul

Wise beyond her years
With eyes that know the world
Mature before she's grown
And pushed out into the world

She's an old soul
With old world knowledge
Profound speech
Without ever attending college

Pushed before she was ready
Yet she didn't let herself fall
Out in the big bad world before she new it all

Thanks Father

You treated us all so differently
Yet all the same
Family dinners were strained
Fake smiles accross the table

Thank you for letting me see the real you
Thanks for allowing me to be the one that felt I had to do something
Thanks for leaving me as the one to pick up the pieces
Thanks its just what I needed

I really loved the time we spent together

And as the years go by it only gets worse.
Families used to be loving, or at least that's what I 've heard.
Why can't we bring back family to what it was?
A mother, a father and children, living under one roof with love

For me, for years I lived afraid for my life, a confused little girl
Without a helpful hand in sight.
Everytime I trusted a man I got burned in the proccess
Only six yet I was afraid because of this.
