The Worst Time

Horizontal rain peppers my hair
Broken mirrors laugh somewhere
Hurried feet melt with the street
Escaping heat begs for a sheet

The worst time, the blackest yet
Litters my mind, What did I get

Awoken in a room I knew too well
Jaring senses; an unfamiliar smell
New eyes, new hair filling everywhere
Chest demanding air, anywhere elsewhere

The worst time, my darkest ever
Clutters my mind, I swore I'd never

The worst time yet
What did I get

I Am a Violent Man

Oh, we scratch
I bite, you claw
The most arresting violence I have ever known
Takes place between these sheets of ours
As you growl
As I lash out
A stream of fire
I am a violent man, tonight
I am consumed by love
And lust
By love and lust for you...

Hair is pulled
Skin gets grazed
As we beat against the wall
As this takes place between us
You murmur, drunk
Senses highened and alive
As I spit out
A shower of crackling sparks

Job

All I know to do is work
Dress myself in the morning
And go to that place
I am a gardener
I mow the lawn
I plant the plants
I watch your wife sunbathing
I sip your tea
How sweet it is...

All I know to do is work
Put on my uniform
And drive the streets
I am the law
I keep a careful eye
I nip trouble in the bud
I bring your daughter home
I drink your tea
How sweet it is...

You Must Change Your Life

Facing up to our responsibilities
And our maturaties
Is not a subject, on which I can preach
(You must change your life)

Setting records straight
Opening yourself wide to possible hate
Being abandoned there at the gate
(You must change your life)

And ages will come to us
And years will fill our heads
With wisdom, caution, an understanding
(You must change your life)

Consumed by love, for your man
To sustain what you've longed to gain
Now that we want the same
(You must change your life)

The Cold Sea

The cold sea
And the life we shared
The cold sea
And the way we kissed
The cold sea
Stretches on
For me...

Twisting inside
The water raging
Twisting inside
The biggest wave
Screwing up in me
Then straightens out for me
The coldest scene
The cold sea
Answers everything
For me...

Why do you have to die

Crying In Your Wedding Dress

The roads always run wet this time of year
Not with rain - with tears
Crying in your wedding dress
Tearing your hair out

The park was always freezing-over around now
Not with winter - with the pain
Of pulling off your ring
Screaming your lungs out

You wore that dress for 16 hours
You wore it too long
You wore it when you arrived
And you wore it when you woke up
I wore my invisible jacket
My invisible trousers
My invisible smile
All day
On our wedding day

Nov.4th (Anniversary)

A fog is spilling into these streets again
Like smoke filling the doomed house at night
And the chill is doubling day by day
And the ice on the road creeps this way

Unlivable, it was unworkable for too long
So, the powers that be; they took a chance
And spoke the words that I couldn't say
And stamped the hope with a date and time

The silver skies that were suspended
Clouded up with those freezing fears
That letting go, into that all-unknown
With only a bottle of beer for peace

A year ago we talked, then turned and walked
Beyond the furthest point we'd been before
And into new arms, you were promptly caught
And into a drug, I tossed my heavy heart

I Watch As You Become A Woman

I watch as you become a woman
Shedding your girlish skin before me
I stand by the bar, ordering our drinks
And melt, as you're easier now
Confident and comfortable with everyone
Such growth since those teenage years

Carrying yourself as a woman does
You pick me up from the office
Still in your laboratory scrubs
So articulate and composed
As I slump my twisting wiry body
Down hard in the passenger seat
Still ill-at-ease with what I'm doing

I watch as you become a woman
On those Saturdays from hell
When I writhe in a bed of hate
And you perch lovingly beside me
Saying 'don't do this anymore,

One More Cup of Tea

Oh, one more cup of tea and then I'll do some work
Just one more wander to the kitchen
Then I'll settle down and work

But no... there's no motivation in me at all
No, there's no reason to be here
Just waiting for the weekend now

I used to love to work
To work hard and learn
Impress the bosses, raise my salary
Make a difference, make some money

But no... there's no motivation in me at all
No, there's no reason to bother anymore
This is just time that's bided

I don't want to be here
I don't want to work
I just want to go out and drink myself to death

These City Walls

There's no doubt this city's in abundance
There's beauty alright, too much to see sometimes
The summer varnishes stone buildings like they were a canvas
The rivers reflect the scenes, doubling the impact
And the people here are smart and easy
No trouble, no smashing glass or arses out of car windows

Of course; they keep the best stuff locked away
If you weren't born to money or vast ambition
Then you've not earned the right to see some joys
Then you're not blessed enough to come inside the walls

These city walls, secrets within arms-reach
Exploding summer gardens, ponds, boats, buildings
Dining halls, drawing rooms, ancient chapples
Wrapped a hundred walls around it all
Reserved for the elite, for the wealthy and the 'wise'

Still this city holds me in her talons tight
Still this place cushions me in its soft paw
