The Inpatience of a broken heart

In these times of sadness I wait for the warmth of the rich summer sun
I sit, I lay, I ponder
I failed to protect my heart; now it aches and wails
This pain within me must end, it must go
To many nights I have spent alone with my thoughts
I sit and wait for the warmth to enrich me, I am so very cold, so very alone
I feel as if concrete surrounds me; concrete that cannot be broken
Unless another heart were to give itself to me
Another heart to protect mine, to join as one, to start anew
To be fixed without the love of another seems unimaginable
Poets we cry, we cry, we cry
How else would we explain to others that we would rather die
