Other
The other other woman
Two flights down
Around and around
Make no sound
The other other woman
Love can be strong
Double wrong
Never long
The other other woman
Waiting to hear
Waiting here
Just a tear
The other other woman
Will you call
Will you fall
Not at all

If You Thought
If you thought me beautiful
I would be
The bright sun playing
In a cherry tree.
If you thought me beautiful
I would know
The thoughts of moonbeams
Dancing slow.
If you thought me beautiful
I would hold
The key to caverns
Full of gold.
If you thought me beautiful
I would look
Like a fairy-tale princess
In a magic book.

Not In Love
It is hard to write a love poem
When you’re not in love.
I long to sing of flowers of fire
And burning stars above.
I want to feel as silver-quick
As a river to the sea,
And to tremble like a silver leaf
Upon an aspen tree;
To sing a world turned inside out
And to see the mountains move,
But it’s hard to write a love poem
When you’re not in love.

Taxi In The Rain
Where have I been going
On this lost and rainy night
I, who have no home to go to
Waiting for a taxi in the rain
The grey earth sleeps
And lets me take my way
Alone amidst the crowd
Waiting for a taxi in the rain
I’ve come so far in search
Of what I have not found
Perhaps it is down this street
Waiting for a taxi in the rain
Grey and frozen faces
Pass me by unhurriedly
Turning their backs to the dreamer
Waiting for a taxi in the rain

Gotterdammerung
Once the weary travelers
Were gladly taken in though
Strange and foreign they might be
For gods could walk with men
Those were fairer times than ours
When feasts kept none without
When trust and honor ruled the land
And mastered fear and doubt
Behind each weather-crusted hood
And cloak of oaken hue
A ruler of the world of stars
Might be hidden from our view
But now they sit outside our door
And howl and curse us all,
For we have mounted lonely stairs
And caused the gods to fall

Study in Red
Red - and blue
And oh so true
Hot - jazz - flash
And gold-toned sax
Relaxed and breaking through.
Red - and gray
City day and night
Passed through - righteously
To passing few who
Come in bright.
Red - and black
Man in red velvet jacket
Smooth and sharp and
Laugh - dark - hello
For come and go.
Red - and white
Lady in black
Jacket - so right
