Amhán Na bhFiann

Ireland’s National Anthem
Has been branded a sectarian song,
As it’s sang on Parkhead’s terracing
By Celtic’s faithful sons,
Can we celebrate at Celtic Park
The heritage of our ancestors?
Or are we to be silenced by the critics
For heralding our Irish culture?

Tuatha de Dannan

The green hills lay silent,
Glens whispered within a quiet breeze,
The sky was as blue as un-chartered ocean
While birds nested in the oldest of oaks trees.
The clans of Erin softly slept,
Through the prayers and poetry of the Bards and Druids,
While the fairy race of the Tuatha de Dannan
Crept onto Irelands shore like an ocean mist.

A Team Brother Walfrid Called Celtic

In the Archdiocese of Glasgow
In the city’s east end,
Brother Walfrid sat with his assistant Brother Dorotheus,

The vision they shared
Was that the poor must be fed
As the dinner tables lay empty for the Irish.

Brother Walfrid had a dream
That wore Ireland’s emerald green
And would be saviours to the minority Catholics,

The Irish stood at Parkhead
And the football was played
By a team, that Brother Walfrid called Celtic.

Within Parkhead’s Dream

Green for glory
And the team we love
Regained the league
And the Scottish Cup.

Pubs in Glasgow
Sang Celtic’s name
The passionate fan
Igniting Celtic’s flame.

Our colours bold
The hoops of green
Were memories are gold
Of our father’s team.

With the loss of Larsson
We’ll carry on
Supporting the Celtic
In story and song.

Coimeád an Creideamh

Green flags are unfurled and fill Glasgow's sky
Banners of Celtic held up high
Keep the faith, with pride, Walk on
Fill your heart with a Celtic song.

Pull on that green & white jersey
Reared on the Celtic way
A battlecry will sound from our soul
From the mouths of men, young and old.

As we stand watching, God's chosen team
With our children wearing the proud green,
Through victory & defeat we will gather strong
As Paradise will hear our hymns & songs.

In the Hoops of Green

In the hoops of green
In colours proud
Players, past & present
Heroes to Parkhead’s crowd.

From Maley’s days
And Jock Stein’s glory
The faithful have grown
On Celtic’s story.

From the streets of Glasgow
From Maryhill Road
To the sidewalks of Toronto
The passion still grows.

As we sing with pride
Old familiar songs
Our culture and faith
We will pass along.

The Scottish Referee’s Bible of 1690

Football in Scotland,
is a religion on its own
When it involves
both Celtic and Rangers,
But how many times
are the Celtic to be crucified
By a referee
who is a Rangers supporter?

Does the Scottish Football Association
travel the country?
And recruit men from
the local Masonic Lodges,
For the referee’s bible of 1690,
is to prevent
Celtic from winning
any Old Firm matches.

Last Saturday’s match
was another fine example

All Roads Lead to Paradise

It will not be long now,
The days are drawing near,
Until we are standing again at Celtic Park
Letting the bhoys hear our cheer.

We will descend upon the Holy Ground,
Travel, from far and wide,
To see Neil Lennon lead onto the field
The bhoys in green & white.

We will bring our sons and daughters,
Proudly wearing their Celtic colours,
And they will cheer on the Glasgow Celtic;
Our heritage and our culture.

Supporters will take the Gallowgate walk,
Some will travel by bus and ferry
But all roads will lead to Paradise,
Were played Larsson, Dalglish & McGrory.

Brother Walfrid

For the poor and the famished,
The Irish and their children,
For the community who came from shores of Erin
To settle in Glasgow’s east end.

To raise awareness for the sick
Who had traveled on coffin ships,
Charity began from a Marist priest
As bread and water were hailed as a feast.

Goodwill never shone from Scotland’s heart
To those who were born under Ireland’s harp,
In the church and parish, they knelt and prayed
As hope was promised from Brother Walfrid.

And when the sport of football reached the streets of Glasgow,
When poverty still grew around the man from Ballymote,
Brother Walfrid found faith for the poor and the sick
As football was introduced to, the famous Glasgow Celtic.

Our Fathers Gave Us Celtic

Our ancestors came from Ireland
Who brought their pride and their faith,
They gathered as one at Celtic park
To express their cultural identity.

Our father’s gave us Celtic
And the songs we sing today,
Our Irish heritage we celebrate
When watching the Bhoys in green play.

The Celtic jersey was worn by icons
Who played with heart and soul,
Diehards for the Celtic cause,
Entertainers, who brought us goals.

We stood through miserable Scottish weather
Suffering the defeat of a Rangers game,
But our spirits stayed strong as we chanted loud
In praise of Celtic’s name.
