1. Love Shared
Two gold wedding bands
Both blessed before wearing
To safeguard a lifetime
Of love they’ll be sharing

1. A Crushing Blow
Driving your car without road tax
Is daft and your luck you are pushing
Cos if caught by the local police force
Your car will be taken for crushing

2. The List
Planning a shopping trip
Making a list
Just to be sure
That nothing gets missed
All that we wanted
Things got listed down
And was still on the table
When we were in town

2. Rose Tinted
Through rose coloured glasses
The world just looks pink
They don’t change a thing
Half as much as you think
So if things look pink
There will be no surprise
If I were to tell you
You’ve rose coloured eyes

2. The Bridge
Within the muddy waters
Pouring concrete by the ton
Lorries crowd the riverbank
Until the job is done
Laying down foundations
For a bridge across the Humber
Where every man was known by name
And not just as a number

2. Cabby
Could I have been a cabby?
In a taxi coloured black
To run around old London
With a full load in the back
I’d hit the road by daybreak
Work right on through till tea
Taking folk to monuments
To point out what they see

3. Hear No
I hear no evil
The devil words said
Never will those
Get within-side my head
I see no evil
Nor Satan’s surprise
To shield me from seeing
I just close my eyes
I speak no evil
Just good things I seek
And if they’re not good
I prefer not to speak

2. Frying Tonight
Fish chip and mushy pea suppers
Newspaper vinegar drips
A shower of dark brown malt liquid
Helps salt crystals stick to your chips
The smell is a stunning reminder
Of many an outing since gone
When fish chip and mushy pea suppers
Were quickly devoured every one

3. Eye Tea
Blind in one eye
With a view that’s one sided
All that I see now
In two is divided
Watching the football
One side or the other
Missing some bits
Whilst I’m viewing another
Next time I’ll remove it
The spoon from my cup
That poked my left eye
When I lifted it up

3. Funny Sonny
Dancing on ice
When I came from the store
All of my shopping
Got strewn on the floor
Head over heals
Flat on back in a pile
Shocked other shoppers
Made little boy smile
No harm was done
So please smile on sonny
Cos if I’d been where you were
I would too think it funny
