I Saw That
I saw that
You
Sneaking a few
Pieces of candy
From the bulk food bin
Thinking I couldn't see you
Thumbing the butterscotch
And feeling the fragrance
Of time's sweet embrace.

You're So Darn Witty
You're so darn witty
With you little smirk.
Aren't you a genius
Aren't you a prig.
Look at your humor
As we bask in your glory
Was, is, and ever shall be
Such is the nature of your wit.
I feel so underwhelmed.

A Dirge For Icarus
Flying upon waxen wings-
Pride induced
The world apathetically
Dismissing-
His tumble to the watery dirge below
To be like
To be a
God
Having choked on swollen pride
Plummeting to the very depths
The tide rolls in to tell the tale
of Icarus damned
By self, pride-
the harshest idol
Man hath known.

I Had Bigger Plans
I had bigger plans
Life sure forgot
And money and money and money
Just kept holding me down.
In my own mind
Wrestling
With that which lie beyond me
And never found
Sweeter taste
In time's fleeting moment past.
The bitter berries
Of berry's bitter taste.
Made more real by the moment
I had found it here.

I Started Watching Television Again
I started watching television again
Because I forgot to read
At first it wasn't too bad
Something of a Home Improvement
But eventually, I forgot my Friends
I lost all my Cheers
And I just wanted to take Wings
And go to a Different World
Where I might take things slowly
And begin to realize
That sometimes Eight is Enough

Gas Prices
We'll never have an electric car...
We went to the moon
Walked in space
Cured polio
And decrypted our DNA
But gas was too intoxicating
And we've been getting drunk
For 100 years
We should colonize the moon
And drill for oil
Perhaps that would be easier
Than merely making an electric car
Oh well, gotta go
Time to vote
For Bush III!

Richard Fenyman
The mind of an all but mediocre
Genius
The howl of the imagination
Made life incarnate
In formulas, in expressions, in scientific
There I see your childlike smile,
A greater sense of wonder on a leathered face
You taught us to think twice and then again
About what lies on the surface beneath
A magic man playing his mambo
Dancing with Shroddinger’s kittens
You were catnip for the soul.

I Spent Some Time Hunting
I spent some time hunting
And found myself, near a deer
That little wonder, staring back at me
And with its tepid gaze
I held up my rifle
Took aim
About to pull the trigger
I felt that little creature's heartbeat
And became one with it
I felt the otherness of its soul
And putting my rifle down
A tear in my eye
I let that tender little creature
Make its way to freedom
Leaving it to another
To let it lie.

Ditch Witch
Turn from me
You wretched, defiled one
with your soulless promises
and hollow smiles
while your shell kisses my lips
plague my memory no more
you cursed creature from below
consumer of purity and hope
mother of lies
I shun the moment we met
drawing me to the fathomless deep
Below God's goodness
to your dwelling place of filth
and stink.
of demon-adorned depravity
where I was only barely able to
escape from;
Take your lies and go
away from my memory

MLK Jr.
He had to go
Uppity negro
Expecting equality
Drinking from the same fountain
Sitting at the front of the bus?
Don't he know his place?
Now he's pushing unions
Challenging the white elite
No, that certainly won't do
Jesus tried such antics
And we swiftly disposed of him
This world murders the Gandhi,
the Jesus, and the Benazir Bhutto.
To make room for escaped Nazis
African dictators, and maniacal Shahs.
