Fresh Fruits of the Spirit - Joy
Joy
“But let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy,
because You make a covering over them and defend them;
let those also who live Your name be joyful
in You and be in high spirits.”
Psalm 5: 11, AMP
Dear Lord,
You also wrote through the Psalmist that… “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30: 5, amp
Sorrow takes so much energy, Lord that it feels like
I will never have joy again. Perhaps a little of Your “high-octane additive” will help.
Please add enough super-charged joy to my tank today to
jump start my life again. And even when problems arise like dark clouds;
low and threatening,
help me to look for joy in spite of the dumpster-diving, roller coaster emotions that swirl around me. I am grateful that You reign… and I will hold You to your promise that joy will
come again, in the morning.
Amen.

2 Chronicles 14: 7; Psalm 4: 8, paraphrased
“When people are saying, all is well and secure, and there is peace and safety, then in a moment unforeseen destruction (ruin and death) will come upon them as suddenly as labor pains come upon a woman with child; and they shall by no means escape, for there will be no escape.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 3, AMP
Dear Lord,
These texts are at opposing ends of the spectrum.
Do we need a reality check?
You promise peace, but there is no peace in this world today…
far cry from it.
Yes, we hear peace phrases spoken by both preachers and politicians,
but according to the last text, there is no peace.
So if there is no peace, how do we get this fruit?
My Child,
The only peace you will ever have is in Me.
This world does not offer peace – though it promises you many things.
