Sonnet Cakes

Sonnet Cakes

Catch a passing flock of words
Put them in a pan
To make a happy sonnet
For your favourite man.

Add a pinch of rhythm
A spoonful of rhyme
Pop them in the oven
Then wait some time

Check if they are burning
Consult with your muse
About variety in flavours,
In structure, different views.

Vales of the Mind - for C P Sharma

Come, walk with me
Through the vales of my mind,
Climb the high mountains
Of inspiration we will find.

For we are as lovers
As we learn to care
For the wisdom we seek
And the knowledge we share.

Though miles may divide us
Vast oceans so wide
The strong hand of friendship
Draws you to my side

To join the small band
Of lovers who grope
Through the morass of ignorance
For one glimmer of hope.

Twisted Mirror

The mirror is twisted for a reason
Though always existing, it is rarely seen
Until that moment, when it is needed
Until then it twists beyond your dream.

Death is just a step inside the mirror
A mirror that was all we left behind
With an image of a place we have forgotten
But directions still remain within our mind.

Just one step to learn the truth of our existence
To find ten thousand years of memories
Be shown the reason for this life, our latest journey
And learn all of man’s histories.

There is no need to fear the twisted mirror
It is just returning to the life that we once knew

Innocence and Peace

Eons ago the Mother spoke
And elements of chaos awoke.
Then, working with great skill and care,
She blended the water with fire and air,
Creating creatures, each a pair.
The faerin folk were given lease,
The cosmos knew innocence and peace.

Eventually earth element sought
To join the trio, and she thought
To create new creatures from the sand
Who would work together hand in hand
To love and protect her precious land.
So the animals spread in wood and vale
While innocence and peace prevail.

Then came the last part of the plan
To create a creature they called man.

Holly Bush

The Holly Bush

It was in the depth of winter
When snow lay crisp upon the ground
That I saw the tiny creatures
Which fluttered all around.

I stepped into the garden
To see what the fuss was all about.
There was a fairy trapped in my holly bush
And her friends were trying to pull her out.

But the sharp leaves stabbed at wings
And they tangled up long hair
As the fairies attempted their rescue.
They weren’t getting anywhere.

The fairies saw me on the garden path
And that I was getting near
They hid behind my chimney stack
