I touched your cold hands
hands that worked the land
caressed your tousled hair
hair that had known flair
kissed your silent lips
lips that sweet secrets keep

My prayers in vain
tears leaving stain

Your words lodged themselves
deep in the crevices and shelves
awaiting the moment of freedom
to shine in the kingdom
