June Bug

A June bug
flying around
in late September
I think I’ll move to L.A.
sit in the sunshine
at a sidewalk Deli
and drink beer all day
and mix it up
with Hollywood’s best
scary, wide-eyed
cosmetically enhanced
West coast fags and sluts

I’ll walk to Malibu

I reached for a half empty
warm beer
and knocked a roll of toilet paper
from the top of the television
it rolled away from me
and into the hallway

the snake stretched scaly
cold blood and forgiving

From just about anyone
In America
Everything is by the numbers
And can be delivered
Right to the front door

It’s a maverick of a idea

A plan conceived in liberty
Not intended to be exploited or excused
Can there be too much freedom?
Some would have it as true
“Freedom ought to have it’s limits” says W
And most don’t even care
Caught in the quicksand of nostalgia
Lost in time
Like Walt Disney
