Desiduous Dream
Pull back the death,
Let it fall,
Detritus bound;
Reveal the power,
Vitality wrought
In fire and water.
Blacksmith and gardener.
Tiger and lamb.
Creator of strength.

Don't Make the River Home
Don’t make the river home.
Rivers can turn wild,
Tossing you about with no care for how you land,
Bashing your bones once you do.
Rivers rage with
Perilous potency
That rends limbs and souls;
Sudden fury to blind or behold.
The river can heal,
Sustain life,
Then jerk it away in a flashing splash.
Visit the river
Don’t make the river home.

The River, Grace
Lift me up,
Take me down
From my rack.
Suspended on meat hooks
Just under my shoulder blades,
The weight of me hangs.
The river comes to me.
The river flows on.
Grace wakes up,
Says, “I will watch with you
We will be watchers
Together.”
Take me down.
Let the river run
Through my wounds;
Cleanse;
Heal.
