On a damp Foggy day (2007)

A car without headlights
On a damp Foggy Day
Nearly hit my bumper
At the stop sign down the way

On a damp Foggy day
Mist hanging heavy in the air
At a stop sign down the way
A Car passed on the right

Mist hanging heavy in the air
I never saw it coming
A car passed on the right
And flew through the intersection

A car without headlights
Nearly hit my bumper
I never saw it coming
And flew through the intersection

Ageless Laughter (2000-2001)

The laughter of ages
still rings in my mind
catcalls and taunts
to keep me in line

If they don't mean to hurt
Why cut me down
With every giggle or scream
For things that go beyond my years

Pushed to the edge
Of all my controls
Laughter reminds me
What it's like to go cold

heartless debate
over this one or that
sanity or prejudice
mistakes in the past

The Sea(1994-1995)

The sea, the sea: calling out to you and me
Waves rush in to caress the sand
Only to roll out again

The sea, the sea: calmness in its water
But in one fowl swoop
The calm has turned sour

The sea, the sea: breezes clear as day
Salty air meets our lips
Longer, will we stay?

The sea, the sea: soft sand beneath our feet
Breeze cooling our hot hands
One look at your eyes and I Know

The sea, the sea: our ally and friend
The seascape drawing us in
In triumph, two sweethearts together
Creating Minstrels in the sand.

Affirmations(2002-2004)

Today, I will get up before my alarm
Today, I won't close my eyes until dusk
Today, I will not get a speeding ticket
Today, I will count this day as a first
Today, I will enjoy the life that has been left to me
Today, I won't frown over the may-have-beens
Today, I won't cry over the should-have-beens
Today, I won't wonder about the could-have-beens

Today, I'll smile.......Today, I'll Laugh.... Today, I'll relax

Today, I won't feel alone because I don't see you
Today, I'll find something new that wasn't true of you
Today, I won't be afraid to look upon a new face
Today, I'll step up and take my place
Today, I won't think about what I've lost
Today, I'll look forward instead of behind
Today, I'll find some piece of mind

Today, I'll hope.... Today, I'll pray... Today, I'll believe

Freedom Alas!

To Fredrick Douglass a new name was formed
as a sign of freedom from the captivity
he seldom forgets to quake when
oppressor draws near in fits of rage
for the praise abolitionist raise
To own a man isn't right
to beat a man for his own delight
and to antebellum south, dissent did fly
'til freedom alas should be his lot
away from the tyrant's whip
and the power of master's wife
to weeping over servant's plight
To all hatred - death shall rise
when humanity in all glory known
finds a way to journey home
and discovers in a heart of gold
tolerance beyond all discrimination
is found in the young love's face
a blessing and exalted place
far from the tyrant's hand
